| Attachment L-8 FTSS V Notional Device Description (Lot 2) | Draft RFP N6134021R0001 | |
| Rev 1 5/24/2021 |
1.1.1 FUNCTION AND GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The XXX Flight Training Device (XXXX), is a training device used to xxxx. The XXXX was built by Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe, Inc., Farmingdale, Long Island, New York.
1.1.2 STUDENT STATIONS: At least 1
The trainee station is capable of simulating the navigational equipment used in the T-6A and T-45C. The scenarios which dictate the aircraft type and navigational route are selected by the instructor from the instructor console. The student station will provide the student all the navigational and aural cuing needed to perform the basic navigation and communication training required by the U.S. Navy’s UMFO training syllabus.
Each student station provides a generic training platform with controls and displays required for training one student. The student station is comprised of one standard LCD monitor, one touch screen monitor, one keyboard, one trackball, and one hand controller installed in a console. Two foot activated switches are supplied for operating the radio and ICS communications. The student stations can be configured to allow two and three students to participate together in an exercise using the same or separate ownerships. One, two, or three instructors can be assigned to any exercise. There are observer provisions including headset connections at each student station.
The two Student Station monitors display the following information:
· The upper monitor is the Main student display. This monitor provides a continuous display of information that must be readily available to the student throughout the mission The lower Monitor is the Programmable Entry Panel. This screen displays Sensor and subsystem controls and is the main interface for the student to access MCS functionality.
1.1.3 INSTRUCTOR/OPERATOR STATIONS (IOS): At least 1
The IOS is comprised of two LCD monitors with one keyboard installed on a worktable. The IOS contains various subcomponents at the instructor’s disposal during the training session. Instructors can load training exercises and then monitor and control the training progress of one or more students. The IOSs may also be used for scenario preparation if desired.
IOS Monitors: Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) monitors are used throughout the simulator complex. They offer a large viewing area, high resolution, and require minimal space. Each monitor can accommodate either a digital or an analog signal from the computer. Alternating Current (AC) power for the LCD monitors is provided through the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).
The two IOS monitors display the following information:
· Left Monitor displays the instructors Situational Awareness Display (SAD). This screen contains the controls for the instructor to monitor and manipulate entity properties and the situational environment of the training scenario.
Right Monitor is a repeater of the Student Station Monitors. This screen displays either of the Student Station monitors (Main Screen or Programmable Entry Panel (PEP). The instructor selects the desired monitor from the IOS on the Instructor SAD.
There is one OLDS/VS Instructor Operator Stations (IOS), located in the MCS computer room. The OLDS/VS IOS is comprised of three LCD monitors with two keyboards installed on a worktable. The IOS contains various subcomponents at the instructor’s disposal during the training session. Instructors can load training exercises and then monitor and control the training progress of one or more students. The IOSs may also be used for scenario preparation if desired.
The three OLDS/VS IOS monitors display the following information:
· The Left monitor is a Maintenance display. This monitor displays maintenance Information for the MCS trainer.
· The Center monitor is an IOS monitor. It displays the instructors Situational Awareness Display (SAD). This screen contains the controls for the instructor to monitor and manipulate entity properties and the situational environment of the training scenario.
· The Right monitor is a maintenance display. This monitor displays maintenance Information for the MCS trainer.
1.1.4 COMPUTER SYSTEM AND PERIPHERALS: The current configuration consists of a Host computer, an IOS computer, an Electronic Control Loading System (ECLS) computer, and a FlightDeck I/O (FDIO) computer system that are each based on Trenton Industrial PC chassis incorporating a Pentium III 850MHz single board computer (SBC). The control loading system also uses a FlightSafety Data Acquisition System (DAS) computer. Additionally, the simulator uses an Aural Cueing system comprised of an ACS computer, an L3 Comm Audio Processing System, and a Crown amplifier. The ACS computer has two possible configurations which utilize either a Gateway Server chassis or a Trenton Industrial PIII-850MHz SBC.
A Debrief computer consisting of a Dell Xeon-based workstation and 30” LCD monitor is included to playback the simulator training events. This system is not co-located with the simulator but is instead located in the briefing spaces. It is connected to the simulator SRS computer via a dedicated peer-to-peer gigabit ethernet link. The Debrief computer for each trainer is interconnected to all of the SRS computers within the training complex via a Cisco network switch. This allows any Debrief computer to be used to accomplish a debriefing session for any trainer.
1.1.5 AIRCRAFT COMMON SUBSYSTEMS: NOT APPLICABLE.
1.1.6 POWER SYSTEM: AC Power Distribution Cabinet Unit 9. The device utilizes one AC power distribution cabinet that contains one Eaton UPS capable of sustaining complete operation for up to thirty minutes. Systems are connected to facility power using 208 three-phase 150 amp service.
1.1.7 VISUAL/VIDEO SYSTEM: The Video Distribution System receives sensor video from the IG render nodes and Radar PCs. Video is routed through the Host PC and overlays are applied. Plan position indicator (PPI) and Programmable entry panel (PEP) video is digitally recorded inside the Host PC, compressed and saved on the central storage. The output of the Host is cloned and routed through the 32 port video switch to allow IOS selection of Student station PPI or PEP.
1.1.8 MOTION SYSTEM: NOT APPLICABLE
1.1.9 AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM: NOT APPLICABLE
1.1.10 MOTOR GENERATOR SETS: NOT APPLICABLE
1.1.11 HYDRAULIC SYSTEM/PNEUEMATIC SYSTEM: NOT APPLICABLE
