NOTE
Raytheon Aircraft Safety Communiqué Number 239 dated November 2003, which pertains to the main landing gear wheels, provides additional/alternate means for aligning the slot in the castellated nut and the cotter pin hole in the axle to preclude exceeding the maximum torque. In the case of the T-44A that torque is, 120-inch pounds of torque. If the castellated nut and the cotter pin hole can’t be aligned within the specified torque range, remove and replace the axle nut or add an additional adjusting washer P/N NAS1149C1616R, NAS1149F1616P or NAS1149G1616P and re-torque in accordance with the current established guidelines.
