About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) for a Department of Air Force project at Tinker Air Force Base involving the replacement of fuel tanks in Building 1032. The RFI contains seven technical questions and government responses related to demolition and installation specifics, including details about fire pump fuel oil tanks, electrical disconnection procedures, tank storage requirements, venting specifications, and technical documentation. Key technical points include removing existing tanks and stands, disconnecting electrical components, ensuring proper tank volume per NFPA 25 standards (198 gallons), requiring separate tank vents, and confirming that engines will have their own fuel supply pumps. The RFI is associated with Solicitation FA8137-25-R-0033 and is dated 30 May 2025, with responses indicating that updated documentation will be provided on a revised contractor CD.

WWYK230052 30 May 2025 Solicitation FA8137-25-R-0033
1. Sheet MD101: Are existing fire pump fuel oil tanks and stand to be removed?
Gov’t Response: Yes, both the stands and tanks inside B1032 are to be demolished. QAG
2. What is the electrical scope for demo and replacement of day tanks?
Gov’t Response: Disconnect day tank level indicator from tank and power junction located behind tank. Place the new tank level indicator on top of the new day tank. MBT
3. Is required storage of 200-gallon net storage required or total available storage of tank with overfill prevention valve and minimum fuel pickup?
Gov’t Response: Per NFPA 25 the storage tank alone must have a volume of 198 gallons, based on a 12-hour fuel consumption requirement and 5 percent volume each for expansion and sump. See Appendix E in the Design Narrative for the mechanical calculations. QAG
4. Will individual Tanks vents be required for each day tank?
Gov’t Response: Yes, per NFPA 25 each tank must have a separate vent and manifold for each main fuel storage space and the interstitial space. QAG
5. Are technical specifications available for the Specification Sections listed in the Submittal Register?
Gov’t Response: Yes, they are included on the revised contractor CD along with the relevant as-builts for the project. QAG
6. Submittal Register indicates Multiple Lines for design requirements Items 77, 81, 82,84, 86, 87, 88 ,89, 90, 91,94, 95 and 96 but Paragraph 3.5 of the Scope of work (SOW) WORKING DOCUMENTS defines minimal design requirements. Please provide guidance on expected design requirement and associated specification sections.
Gov’t Response: All items in the submittal register that are highlighted in yellow are not applicable to the project. These items will be removed and a new submittal register will issued in the revised Contractor CD. JM
7. Will the new day tanks require their own fuel supply pumps? Or do the engines have their own fuel supply pumps?
Gov’t Response: The engines has its own pumps. MBT
