Appendix OO Joint Sealant, 29-oz Tube
1. Introduction. Under the ADR Modernization Program, joint sealant is placed over backer rod to seal the joints in new concrete construction, as well as, replacing dilapidated joint material in existing concrete structures to prevent intrusion of moisture under the concrete surface.
2. Joint Sealant.
2.1. The Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC), Vicksburg, MS, is the Department of Defense’s lead pavement research facility for roadways, permanent airfields, contingency airfields, and railroads. ERDC is the approving agency for all Air Force ADR related repair materials. Due to the critical nature of performing emergency airfield repairs, presumably after an act of war, and the requirement to support heavy aircraft loads, materials must be pre-qualified for procurement and use. Failure of the materials to meet performance metrics could result in failure to restore flight operations, failure in contingency operations plans, damage to or loss of individual aircraft, material and personnel. ERDC is currently working on a Quality Products Listing (QPL) for joint sealant material.
2.2. The contractor shall verify the joint sealant meets federal specification TT-S-00230C, Type I, Class A.
2.3. The contractor shall verify the joint sealant is a single component, self-leveling, premium grade polyurethane sealant with an accelerated curing capacity.
2.4. The contractor shall verify the joint sealant is jet fuel resistant.
2.5. The contractor shall verify the joint sealant color is to be limestone.
2.6. Joint Sealant shall be in a 29-oz cartridge.
2.7. Joint Sealant unit of issue for this IDIQ will be a set (ST) of three (3) each.
2.8. The contractor shall provide a copy of the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for the joint sealant with each Task Order of joint sealant.
