AOI - 008 TITLE: MacDill AFB TECHNOLOGY AREA(S): Human Resources, Engineering, Weather, Logistics, Aircraft Maintenance DESCRIPTION: The 6th Air Refueling Wing is organized into five groups: Operations, Maintenance, Mission Support, Medical, and the Wing Staff. Team MacDill includes 28 associate units from all branches of service to include U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, and the 927th Air Refueling Wing.
The presence of these two unified commands and other Mission Teammates creates a unique multi-service community at MacDill, with all branches of service represented. So, although MacDill is an Air Force Base, it is also home to many soldiers, sailors, Marines and coast guardsman.
The areas listed below are general challenge areas that the Air Force is interested in novel solutions:
1. Workforce management/scheduling technology
2. HR In/Out Processing procedures done via paper and drive HR workforce to manually input information
3. Energy Saving (Green) technologies
4. Current Hurricane/Weather predictive tools and systems are antiquated
5. Need to improve Electromagnetic Pulse Protection/Hardening capabilities
6. Organized Automated Inventory System
7. Simulated/VR vehicle ops license training
8. Approved cooling system for grounded KC-135
9. Need improved interior lighting options for the KC-135
10. Palletized lavatory compatible on KC-135. Many KC-135 do not have bathrooms and currently requires workarounds that are less than desirable
11. Scheduling software for aircraft maintenance efforts The Air Force is interested in exploring innovative technology domains that may not be covered in the list above, so this topic is intended to also be a call for open ideas and technologies that cover other related areas not currently listed (i.e. the unknown-unknown). This topic is meant for innovative solutions to be adapted in innovative ways to meet DoD stakeholders’ needs in a short timeframe and at a low cost.
