About this file
This document contains a notice of a commercial solutions opening for the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst seeking innovative solutions related to mold detection and remediation. The Air Force is interested in acquiring user-friendly data collection software for tracking mold reports, humidity control devices for fan coil and air handling units to prevent mold, and non-visible and odorless mold detection technology. Solutions should be priced under $30,000 but offerings over this amount will be considered. The Air Force Mobility Command will evaluate proposals received in response to this general solicitation from scientific and technical experts to obtain new capabilities and technologies to fulfill requirements and close capability gaps at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst facilities.

AOI - 005 TITLE: 87th CEG JB MDL, Mold Detection/Remediation TECHNOLOGY AREA(S): Construction, Maintenance and Repairs (M&R), Fire Protection, Environmental, Safety etc.
DESCRIPTION: The 87th Civil Engineer Group (87th CEG) comprises of the 87th Civil Engineer Squadron (87th CES) and 787th Civil Engineer Squadron (787th CES). They are responsible for acquisition, construction, M&R of over 4,055 base facilities, utilities, and infrastructure on 42,000 acres. They also provide JB MDL with emergency response, fire protection and explosive ordnance disposal response capabilities, engineering design, environmental management, dormitory management, combat readiness, and full-spectrum rapid recovery from attack or natural disaster in peace and war.
The areas listed below are general challenge areas that the Air Force is interested in novel solutions:
1. A user friendly data collection system with built-in analytics that can be used on-the-go and/or a desktop on the government network. This software will be used every time mold is reported to our customer service team.
2. An energy efficient and cost effective device to add a humidity control mechanism within fan coil units and air handling units to prevent mold occurrences year round.
3. Technology to detect non-visible and odorless mold.
The Air Force is interested in exploring innovative technology domains that may not be covered in the list above, so this topic is intended to also be a call for open ideas and technologies that cover other related areas not currently listed (i.e. the unknown-unknown). This topic is meant for innovative solutions to be adapted in innovative ways to meet the Department of Defense Stakeholders’ needs in a short timeframe and at a low cost.
