About this file
This document outlines a commercial solutions opening conducted by Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst on behalf of the Air Force. The CSO seeks innovative solutions or potential new capabilities priced under $30,000 to fulfill requirements, close capability gaps, or provide potential technology advancements for the 305th Air Mobility Wing. Areas of interest include computer-aided planning and tracking of air and ground assets, resilient PNT sources, smart maintenance equipment, additive manufacturing, virtual and augmented reality applications, and autonomous systems. Specific challenges involve efficiently scheduling training aircraft, providing a heated environment for ground activities, developing passenger information systems, enabling drone capabilities, improving personnel alerts and visual threat training, and obtaining efficient storage and 3D printing technologies. Proposals will be evaluated by Air Force subject-matter experts.

AOI - 002 TITLE: 305th Air Mobility Wing TECHNOLOGY AREA(S): Cargo/Refueling Airport Environment DESCRIPTION: The 305th Air Mobility Wing is responsible for the operation and maintenance of cargo and aerial refueling aircraft conducting missions across the globe in support of a wide variety of operations in both congested civilian environments as well as hostile theaters of combat. Successful operations encompass both planning/scheduling/employment of aircraft as well as the ground support structure including maintenance, logistics, and large capacity cargo and passenger aerial ports. The Air Force wishes to stay at the cutting edge of aviation and maintenance technologies and is looking to partner with innovative small businesses that may have solutions to Air Force challenges. The areas listed below are general challenge areas that the Air Force is interested in novel solutions:
1. Computer aided planning/scheduling/tracking of air and ground assets
2. Resilient Position/Navigation/Timing (PNT) sources for aircraft and maintenance operations
3. Smart maintenance and support equipment enabling less human interaction with equipment
4. Additive manufacturing capabilities and certification
5. Virtual reality/augmented reality applications for aircrew and ground personnel Additionally the Air Force has a number of specific challenges that require tailored solutions:
1. Efficiently schedule and utilize local aircraft for training across multiple organizations
2. Inherently safe heated environment for ground activities during cold weather operations
3. Kiosk or information system for passenger terminal to keep customers informed
4. Drone capabilities within airport environment for multiple applications including emergency response, security, weather observations, and maintenance observation activities
5. Personnel alert capability during normal ops and emergency recall situations
6. Modern visual threat training capability for ground to air threats against aircraft
7. Visual training for maintenance personnel
8. Augmented training/ops of ground equipment
9. Efficient storage cabinet/rack capabilities for sensitive maintenance equipment
10. 3DP/AM capabilities for organizations across airport operations
11. The ability to weigh cargo pallets while in transit (i.e. on the forklift)
12. Transportation Solutions: around base and work commuting
13. Autonomous pickup and delivery of small parts and supplies
14. Smart city technologies The Air Force is interested in exploring innovative technology domains that may not be covered in the list above, so this topic is intended to also be a call for open ideas and technologies that cover other related areas not currently listed (i.e. the unknown-unknown). This topic is meant for innovative solutions to be adapted in innovative ways to meet DoD stakeholders’ needs in a short timeframe and at a low cost.
