Question: _There is a serious flaw in fire sprinkler design assumptions; as designed, the fire sprinkler design will not satisfy the UFC 3-600-01 code as it’s referenced in the spec. paragraph. Specifically, the referenced UFC code requires a storage occupancy to be calculated based on building height/potential storage, not planned storage height like the 13’ height as the contract design supposes. To meet the UFC 3-600-01 (for bldg. height) would require greater flow and greatly increased sprinkler pipe sizes vs.
what’s currently scoped. The only way the currently scoped design could be used is with letter from the AHJ acknowledging that they understand it won't meet the UFC as written. Please advise.
Response: Sprinkler system design reflects sprinklers at all the highest points in main facility, and the highest points in the new occupied spaces. Please provide specific reference in drawing if there is a more specific concern.

Question: What exceptions to the NFPA 72, UFC 3-600-01 and UFC 4-021-01 are acceptable as directed by the Contracting Officer when it comes to the fire detection, alarm and mass notification systems as referenced in spec. para. 2.1?
Response: There are no exceptions. If there is a more specific concern, please make the question more specific.
