About this file
This document contains the specifications for a motor grader hydraulic wing accessory from the State of Illinois Department of Central Management Services. The wing accessory must meet minimum requirements such as providing a minimum of 62 inches benching capability, 20 inches of ground clearance, and a 12-foot moldboard with a 20-degree attack angle. The wing must be able to fully articulate without damaging the grader and include safety features like a shear bolt push arm and safety chain. The final wing assembly must not exceed 4,100 lbs.
The specifications indicate this wing accessory is for a motor grader contract opportunity, but do not provide additional details about the contract such as the response due date, award date, contract term, or pricing information. The document also does not mention any set-asides, incumbents, funding requirements, or other salient commercial terms.

Specifications for a Motor Grader Accessory Hydraulic Wing
The following specifications covers the minimum requirements for high post hydraulic wing motor grader accessory. The equipment shall be new, of current design and manufacture, and a production model. Any additions, deletions, or variations from the following specifications must be noted or the equipment will be rejected. Any standard items appearing in the manufacturer’s regular published specifications shall be included unless otherwise noted.
Parts and service for the equipment should be readily available within the State of Illinois.
Unless otherwise specified, the equipment shall be complete in all parts and ready for immediate use upon delivery.

The State reserves the right to waive minor informalities, deficiencies, or technical variances which by their nature are restrictive to a given manufacturer, if in its’ judgement, it would be in the best interest of the State.
The hydraulic wing shall be installed onto the motor grader without compromising the existing motor grader frame or factory installed hydraulics. No cutting or welding of the factory frame is permitted.
The wing moldboard will provide a minimum of 62 inches benching capability under an 8-inch top-punched cutting edge with the moldboard lifted level. There cannot be any out-of-post cylinder rod protrusion to prevent entanglement with overhead wires and tree limbs.
The front wing post will provide a minimum of 20 inches of ground clearance when typical snow tires are installed on the grader. The post shall include ultra-high molecular weight polyurethane wear pads to ensure both a smooth vertical travel and a secure attachment for the moldboard/float assembly to the post.
Additional hoses and fittings will be provided that are compatible with the motor grader. Connections shall be made so that they will not compromise the factory hydraulic system.
| The front hydraulic elevating post shall be located ahead of the tandems | and behind the motor grader moldboard. The front post shall be triangular in shape and feature double barreled elevating cylinder which prevents out-of-post cylinder rod protrusion. The grader shall be able to fully articulate left or right without damaging the wing or grader assembly. | |
| The push arm shall be shear bolt equipped in addition to a dual spring cushion system. A minimum two pin adjustment holes will be | incorporated into the push arm to allow the moldboard plowing swath to | be adjusted. The rear post shall provide a minimum of 48 inches of hydraulic elevation to allow even benching capability. A |
safety chain shall be incorporated into the post to secure the push arm/moldboard assembly during storage and/or transport.
| The wing moldboard shall be constructed of a minimum 3/16 inches A36 | hot rolled steel plate, roll formed to an optimum casting angle. It shall be designed to meet the roadway at a 20-degree attack angle. The moldboard shall be 12 feet in length at the road surface and built to taper from approximately 33 to 39 inches high over its length when measured with a 5/8 x 8 inches top punched cutting edge installed. The moldboard | shall feature a built-in coped discharge/mailbox trim at the extreme end to permit additional clearance when parking indoors. |
| A lift link box shall be incorporated into the moldboard where a 3.5 x 30 | inches heel lift cylinder is directly attached from the front post to permit the operator maximum control over the moldboard functions whether plowing or benching. |
Final wing assembly should not exceed 4100 lbs.
All parts shall be cleaned, prepped, painted, and/or powder coated manufacturer’s standard color.
