RE: Asbestos Inspection and Reporting for River S Access Bridge in Ridgefield Wildlife
Refuge, Ridgefield, WA per EPA Requirements.
Greetings Mr. Taylor, This inspection was in accordance with and as required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Labor and Industries (L & I) in their regulations that govern the exposure of workers to asbestos. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates asbestos in or on bridges and require an inspection (survey) prior to demolition/renovation.
Location:
River S Access Bridge is located off Hillhurst Road South of Ridgefield, Washington.
Bridge Description:
Built in 1970 and rebuilt in 1980. Main Structure Type is steel with timber deck, timber surface, with steel stringers on timber pile bents and abutments. The bridge is on a dead-end road providing FWS and public access in the central portion of the refuge. The one-lane bridge carries two-way traffic.
Asbestos Inspection:
If and/or when a suspect building materials are identified, they will be categorized, numbered, and placed into homogeneous areas for sample collection and laboratory analysis.
No suspect Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACM) were identified within the field inspection.
Recommendations:
No suspect ACMs were identified, thus no abatement is necessary.
Limitations:
This ACM inspection report was prepared based on information gathered during one site visit.
The inspection report has been prepared to provide information concerning the various types of bridge materials that were considered suspect ACM and to inform the owner of the inspection results.

Most of the bridge components were visible and accessible at the time of the inspection. While highly unlikely, additional suspect materials may be encountered during demolition. This asbestos inspection report is intended for the use by the Federal Highway Administration and their clients. The scope of services performed by Certified Environmental Consulting, LLC, may not be appropriate to satisfy the needs of other users, and any use or re-use of this document, or the findings presented herein is at the sole risk of the user.
