1. What is CDLS?
The Aeronautical Center Contractor Depot Logistics Support System (CDLS) is an Internet-based requisitioning bridge for the Logistics Center and outside vendors for supply support activity. These activities consist of ordering, shipping, and tracking.
The website also provides the ability to research History records for site usage, as well as common identifiers such as priority and returns. CDLS is a web-based application and consequently does not require client side software. Users access the system via a web browser of their choice. The CDLS application recommends Microsoft’s Internet Explorer version 5.0 or greater.
2. System Access and Security
System access and security features in CDLS include:
• User accounts consisting of a username and password, for user authentication
• User profiles with pertinent information about the user’s location, contact numbers
• Roles and responsibilities assigned to users, restricting data access to areas needed for the user’s job duties
• Application administrator ability to add, remove, or make changes to user accounts and role assignments.
System access and password logic that complies with DOT/FAA orders and standards.
3. Document Uploads and Downloads
There are basic downloads of shipped files created monthly to aid the Logistics Management Specialists and the engineers in recovering missing spares and used for accountability purposes.
4. System Automation
CDLS handles many functions automatically, including:
• Routing requirements through predefined process workflows
• Shipping information for requirement status
• Audit tracking and logging.
A customer must read and agree to the information provided in the ACCESSAML Web Interface Guide to proceed with using and maintaining the Website. If the customer does not agree, his request for access will be denied and the customers will need to find another place to store the shared information. Upon the customer agreement there will be a system generated logon userid and temporary password assigned for access to the website.
5. CDLS Website Personnel “WorkChores”
Each CDLS website personnel role has its own workchore. Based on the role(s) assigned to each CDLS employee,
• The vendor shall furnish all required labor, facilities, materials and equipment (except Government-furnished), indirect material, and preservation, packaging, packing and marking required to provide depot level repair and support to the system.
• The Inventory Manager shall provide the customer all details on CDLS supported items. Follow-up on delinquent due-ins. Provide the Program office Service Order Updates on Vendor performance. The IM should provide the Vendor with recommendations on discrepancies. Perform all file maintenance transactions on each supported NSN.
• FAALC Engineer attends general conferences based on supply support problems or issues. Review engineering change proposals. Support Vendors technical assistance in fabrication and/or procurement of line replaceable units (LRUs). Assist Inventory Manager/Equipment Specialist on part number related requirements. Assist the field customer in identifying parts and their relations. Provide the Program office Service Order Updates on Vendor performance.
• The CDLS Website administrator will provide guidance to all users.
Identifies enhancements to the Website. Provide initial user and password information. Inform all users outage information. Set all initial Vendor webpage up.
6. Inquiry and Search Capability
CDLS provides search filters for key fields, such as shipped, pending, cancelled.
Users may also use standard browser search features.
7. Reporting
CDLS provides formatted document printing, as well as reports for financial and performance analysis.
8. Section 508 Compliance
Required data fields are clearly identified in accordance with standard Internet practices, and instructions for how to obtain accessibility assistance.
9. Change Management
CDLS provides a change management process, encompassing version control, revision control, change control, and system maintenance or upgrades.
The Screen shots below highlight some of the improvements/changes to the CDLS website.
This is a feature added to support the Inventory Manager. If the field submits a requirement with an incorrect Appto code it will transmit to the unmatched webpage where it can be cancelled or modified.
There are several places drop down boxes are found to view different options. For instance, the Inventory Manager manages more than one CDLS contract this allows for choosing another quickly. There is also the drop down box for Pending/Shipped/Returned/Partial etc… The grey boxes above the Tracking number, RMA, Appto, NSN, Part#, and Priority are used for sorting, the user would apply a specific NSN or Tracking number.
