D-2. PACKING AND PACKAGING
Unless otherwise specified by the Government, all shipments of material, supplies, and data provided in the performance of this contract shall be preserved, packaged, packed, and prepared for shipment to prevent deterioration and damage during shipping, handling and storage, and to ensure safe delivery at destination in accordance with the American Society for Testing and Materials Standard and Practice for Commercial Packaging D3951-98. The Contractor is solely responsible for preservation, marking, packaging, and packing of all material and supplies.
Engines and Propellers shall be preserved and packed in approved containers as set forth in the engine manufacturer’s maintenance manuals.
D-3. STORAGE
The Contractor shall provide the proper care, maintenance and use of Government property in its possession. The removal of Government property to storage or its contemplated transfer does not relieve the Contractor of these responsibilities.
Environmental criteria for storage of Government property will be in accordance with established best commercial practices. Designated Government personnel have access to property in storage for the purpose of inspecting the Government property. The expense of storage, including any cost incident to the transportation to and from the storage area, shall be borne by the Contractor and shall not be charged directly or indirectly to the contract unless the Government determines that the storage is for the convenience of the Government.
