About this file
This document contains a draft Level of Repair Analysis worksheet and summary for conducting a National Maintenance Work Requirement analysis on various components of military equipment. The worksheet requires identification and sourcing data for components under review, including part numbers, failure rates, costs for government and contractor repair, repair methods, warranty terms, and a recommendation for level of maintenance. Information covers areas like functional group codes, repair levels, unit pricing, special tools required, and distinction between new and rebuilt items. Contractors are asked to complete the analysis and provide a formatted summary to assist the government in determining optimal repair sources for components.

LMI Summary Worksheet – NMWR DATA
MIL PRF 49506 LMI Summary Worksheet 1
SUMMARY TITLE: National Maintenance Work Requirement (NMWR) Level of Repair Analysis
SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS: The contractor shall document a NMWR Data Summary for each component on the government approved NMWR candidate list. The summary will be in the contractor’s format, in end item hardware breakdown sequence (Top-down Breakdown). The final Summary will provide source data for the government to analyze and identify which components (parts) will have a NMWR prepared. The analysis will include a conclusion for each component that clearly recommends the best source of repair (government or contractor) for the component. The following data elements are required. The contractor may add additional data elements as desired.
DATA IN LMI SPECIFICATION (Please provide the data product title):
LMI 1520 COMMERCIAL GOVERNMENT ENTITY(CAGE) CODE
LMI 2790 ITEM NAME
LMI 3270 MEAN TIME BETWEEN FAILURES (MTBF) *
LMI 4400 REFERENCE NUMBER (Part Number)
LMI 4830 SOURCE, MAINTENANCE AND RECOVERABILITY (SMR) CODE
DATA NOT IN LMI SPECIFICATION (Please provide the data product title, its definition and its format):
1. Functional Group Code (FGC).
2. Level of Maintenance, they are: Field (which includes: C-Crew, O-Service and F-Field) and Sustainment
(which includes H-Below depot, L-Special Repair activity and D-Depot).
3. Component Cost (US Dollars, Based on a Lot of 100 Pieces).
4. Government cost to buy rebuilt/remanufactured (US Dollars, Based on a Lot of 100 Pieces).
5. Contractor cost to rebuild/remanufacture broken down as follows (US Dollars, Based on a Lot of 100 Units):
a. Labor hours to; tear down, remove/replace parts, any machining, rebuild, inspection, and testing.
b. Packing, shipping and any storage requirements.
c. Cost of any mandatory replacement parts and parts that will most likely be replaced.
d. Listing of any special tools or test equipment required to perform this work and cost of this equipment.
6. Identify whether it is directly available from the contractor through the same supply and distribution channels as all other parts/components.
7. Identify the standard to which the component will be remanufactured, rebuilt or otherwise refurbished:
a. like-new condition, using only new components,
b. Using nonstandard (oversize/undersize) bearings or other components which may vary from the original component configuration.
8. Describe the length and type of warranty, if different from a new component
9. Identify the method used to distinguish between new vs. rebuilt/remanufactured component, such as part number difference, etc.
10. Identify whether a commercial reusable container is available for the NMWR component candidate(s), and whether the container has a long life (20+ trips) or a short life (10 trips).
11. Make a recommendation as to whether the component should be organically repaired at sustainment level or contractor repaired and returned to government stocks through a long term contract.
* The required Mean Time Between Essential Function Failure (MTBEFF) of 120 hours can be used if MTBF is unknown.
