PACKAGING AND MARKING
APPLICABLE DIRECTIVES
The Contractor must provide all Packaging, Handling, Storage, and Transportation (PHS&T) requirements in accordance with (IAW) the most current versions of ASTM-D-3951, Standard Practices for Commercial Packaging, MIL-STD-129R (2), Military Marking for Shipment and Storage, and bar code symbology described in the FAA Asset ID Process and Procedures Guide.
PACKAGING AND PACKING
All equipment, components, and spares delivered under this contract must be packed and packaged to meet the requirements of the carrier and ensure safe delivery at the destination.
All deliverables must cite the Federal Aviation Administration as the contracting agency and must be clearly marked with the following information:
1. Name of the Firm;
2. FAA Contract Number;
3. FAA Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) Identification; and,
4. Item Identification.
The Contractor must package spare parts for storage and shipment.
The Contractor must pack:
5. Expendable components in accordance with ASTM-D-3951, Standard Practices for Commercial Packaging;
6. Exchange and Repair (E&R) items in reusable containers; and,
7. Electrostatic Discharge Sensitive items in accordance with ASTM-D5077-90 (2015), Standard Terminology Relating to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Packing Materials.
HANDLING AND MARKING
1. All components, equipment, and spares with a consignee other than the FAA Logistics Center (FAALC) must be marked IAW, the marking requirements of ASTM-D-3951.
The Contractor must utilize the FAA bar code serial shipping container label symbol, quality, and format specification contained in the Asset ID Process and Procedures Guide.
The Contractor must mark each unit, intermediate, and exterior shipping container with the following information:
1. Serial Number;
2. Part Number;
3. Part Nomenclature;
4. Warranty Expiration Date;
5. Contract Number; and,
6. Bar Code.
All components, equipment, and spares consigned to the FAALC must be marked IAW with MIL-STD-129R (2) Military Marking Shipment Storage.
The Contractor must mark each unit, intermediate, and the exterior shipping container with the following information:
7. Serial Number;
8. Manufacturer’s Part Number;
9. Warranty Expiration Date;
10. Contract Number;
11. Contract Line-Item Number;
12. National Stock Number; and,
13. Quantity.
STORAGE
1. The Contractor must identify any off-site storage requirements, site and/or depot, for the APC System or related spares and equipment.
The Contractor must provide the following information 60 calendar days prior to any off-site storage commitment:
1. Item Name;
2. Unit Weight;
3. Unit Dimensions; and,
4. Special Storage Requirements.
TRANSPORTATION
1. The Contractor must transport components, equipment, and spares by the most economical means considering dependability, safety, urgency of need, and the use of the least costly mode meeting these considerations.
The Contractor must ship all material Free on Board (FOB) destination.
The Contractor is responsible for providing material handling equipment and other resources necessary for the loading, blocking, and bracing of items to be shipped.
The Contractor is responsible for the on-site (except at the FAA Logistics Center) loading or unloading and transportation of personnel and material associated with the installation of APC System equipment.
