About this opportunity

The University of Wisconsin-Madison has issued a Request for Information on an enterprise Desktop as a Service solution, with responses due July 8, 2026. This is an information-gathering vehicle only — responses will not be accepted to form a binding contract, and the university reserves the right to modify or cancel without obligation to issue a subsequent procurement.

The scope encompasses cloud-hosted DaaS delivering secure, scalable desktop and application environments to faculty, staff, researchers, clinicians, and students. The platform must support persistent and non-persistent desktops, pooled and dedicated models, Windows and Linux operating systems, GPU-enabled desktops, and published applications. Security controls include clipboard and peripheral redirection, session recording, data encryption, data loss prevention integration, centralized audit logging with SIEM export, and zero-trust alignment. Compliance requirements are FERPA, HIPAA, FedRAMP (Moderate or High), and ITAR. The solution must support federated identity through SAML 2.0, OIDC, and Microsoft Entra ID with just-in-time provisioning and conditional access based on user roles, device posture, network, and location. High-availability architecture with disaster recovery and regional failover, support for managed and unmanaged endpoints via native or browser-based clients, and WCAG 2.1 accessibility compliance are required. Federated governance balancing centralized security oversight with departmental autonomy is a key architectural requirement.

Respondents should submit an executive summary, completed 49-question vendor questionnaire, architecture diagrams, product roadmap for 2026–2027, and detailed pricing and licensing information. Questions are due June 24, 2026. No pricing has been established at this RFI stage.
