About this opportunity

Salt Lake City School District is requesting bids on permanent avian exclusion netting installation at three bus station canopies totaling approximately 94,045 square feet under IFB DH2707-BTN, with bids due September 1, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. and a mandatory pre-bid site visit on August 19, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. Attendance at the mandatory site visit is a condition of bid eligibility.

Bidders must hold a current Utah business license, provide three references, and demonstrate a minimum of three years' experience installing bird exclusion netting. The scope includes furnishing all labor, supervision, equipment, materials, tools, transportation, hardware, and incidentals to install netting that deters swallows and starlings, with zipper access beneath Wi-Fi routers and above lighting and cameras. The work explicitly excludes cleaning bird droppings, sanitizing, pressure washing, bird trapping, removal, deterrent devices, and chemical treatments. The West canopy covers approximately 29,753 square feet; the Center canopy approximately 32,146 square feet; and the East canopy approximately 32,146 square feet.

This is a five-year contract with work commencing at least 20 days after issuance and completion expected within 30 days of a purchase order. The SLCSD intends to complete the Center canopy first, with remaining installations determined by budget constraints but initiated within the contract term; no guarantee of all three installations in the first year is provided. Work is restricted during school hours (5:30 a.m.–10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m. on school days); weekends and evenings are available with coordination. The contractor must warrant workmanship for a minimum of one year from acceptance. Pricing must remain firm for the first contract year; subsequent annual adjustments require written justification, manufacturer documentation, supplier invoices, and CPI information, subject to SLCSD approval.

Bidders must submit pricing on a lump-sum basis covering all three canopies; no separate line-item pricing is accepted. Questions are due by August 25, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.; all questions must be submitted in writing through Bonfire/U3P or posed at the mandatory site visit. Award is anticipated September 4, 2026, subject to Board of Education approval. Six bids were received ranging from $224,768.00 to $308,169.20.
