About this file

This document is a Fire Protection System Protocol for Capital Planning Projects issued by the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) in Florida. The protocol outlines detailed procedures for fire alarm system technicians performing various technical tasks, including installing equipment, downloading programs, pretesting, and final testing with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). The document specifies a standardized 14-step process for each type of work, which includes obtaining project management approval, checking in with the prime contract holder, notifying OCCC Capital Planning and Security, documenting system status before and after work, and ensuring that the fire alarm system's status remains unchanged or improves throughout the process.

The protocol emphasizes strict communication and documentation requirements, mandating that the OCCC Designated Fire Alarm Company always provide at least two technicians for any work, with one technician remaining at the Technical Support Workspace (TSW) while others perform specific tasks. Each procedure requires notifying OCCC Security, putting the system in test mode, documenting existing alarms and troubles, completing the specific technical work, and generating a signed debrief report to be submitted to OCCC Capital Planning. The prime contract holder is ultimately responsible for notifying OCCC Capital Planning when work is complete, ensuring a clear chain of accountability and communication throughout the fire protection system maintenance and upgrade process.
