About this file
This document contains a federal contract solicitation and related opportunity. The solicitation seeks maintenance dredging of portions of the Newark Bay, New Jersey Federal Navigation Project. Specifically, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposes to remove approximately 600,000 cubic yards of selected shoals from the Main and Port Newark Channels to depths of -40 feet and -50 feet Mean Lower Low Water plus one foot allowable overdepth using a mechanical dredge with a closed clamshell environmental bucket. Multiple barges and tugboats will be needed for dredging, dewatering, and unloading operations. The dredged material must meet all federal, state, and local placement criteria and the contractor must provide all necessary permits for transportation, transfer, dewatering, processing, and final placement at a contractor-furnished upland site. The contractor must commence work within five days of notice to proceed and maintain an integrated production rate of at least 2,500 cubic yards per day. The estimated cost is between $25-100 million and work must take place between August 2022 and March 2023.
