About this file
This solicitation from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, is for maintenance dredging of portions of the Newark Bay Federal Navigation Project in New Jersey. The contractor will be required to dredge approximately 600,000 cubic yards of selected shoals from the Main and Port Newark Channels to depths of -40 and -50 feet MLLW plus one foot allowable overdepth using a mechanical dredge with a closed clamshell environmental bucket. Multiple barges and tugboats will be needed to perform dredging, dewatering, and unloading operations. The contractor must furnish a State-permitted upland placement site and transport dredged material for dewatering, processing, and final placement to meet all federal, state, and local criteria. The contractor must provide all necessary permits within 35 days of notification and commence work within five days of the notice to proceed, maintaining a production rate of at least 2,500 cubic yards per day. The estimated cost of this work is between $25-100 million and must be completed between August 2022 and March 2023 to minimize impacts to ship traffic.
