About this file
This solicitation seeks maintenance dredging services for portions of the Newark Bay Federal Navigation Project in New Jersey. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New York District proposes to remove approximately 600,000 cubic yards of sediment from the Main and Port Newark Channels to depths of -40 to -50 feet Mean Lower Low Water plus one foot allowable overdepth. The dredged material consists primarily of silt and clay and can only be removed using a mechanical dredge with a closed clamshell environmental bucket. Multiple barges and tugboats will also be required to perform dredging, dewatering, and placement operations. The contractor must obtain and provide all necessary permits for transportation, processing, and final placement of dredged material at an approved upland site. The low bidder has 35 days to submit permit documentation. Work must commence within five days of notice to proceed and maintain a daily production rate of at least 2,500 cubic yards to minimize channel closure impacts. The project is estimated to cost between $25-100 million and take place from August 2022 through March 2023.
