About this file
This solicitation is for maintenance dredging of portions of the Newark Bay Federal Navigation Project in New Jersey. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, requires dredging of approximately 600,000 cubic yards of selected shoals from the Main and Port Newark Channels to depths of -40 to -50 feet MLLW plus one foot allowable overdepth. The dredged material consists primarily of silt and clay and can only be removed using a mechanical dredge with a closed clamshell environmental bucket. Multiple barges and tugboats will be needed to perform dredging, dewatering, and unloading operations between August 2022 and March 2023. The contractor must furnish an approved upland placement site and obtain all necessary permits for transportation, processing, and final placement of dredged material. The low bidder must provide permit copies within 35 days of notification. Work must commence within five days of the notice to proceed and maintain a production rate of at least 2,500 cubic yards per day. The estimated cost of this unrestricted procurement ranges from $25-100 million.
