About this file
This solicitation is for maintenance dredging of portions of the Newark Bay Federal Navigation Project in New Jersey. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, requires the removal of approximately 600,000 cubic yards of sediment from the Main and Port Newark Channels to depths of -40 feet and -50 feet Mean Lower Low Water plus one foot allowable overdepth using a mechanical dredge with a closed clamshell environmental bucket. Multiple barges and tugboats will be needed for dredging, dewatering, and unloading operations. The dredged material must meet all federal, state, and local placement criteria and the contractor must provide all necessary permits for transportation, dewatering, processing and final placement at a contractor-furnished upland site by March 2023. Bidders must be able to commence work within five days of notice to proceed and maintain a minimum production rate of 2,500 cubic yards per day to minimize channel closure time for vessel traffic. The total cost is estimated between $25 million and $100 million.
