About this file
This document is a letter from ABS Global Engineering reviewing the submitted drawings and calculations for a 150'x38'x10' deck barge (Task T2455022 and T2455024) for the CELRE contract. The letter indicates that ABS has reviewed the submitted documents, which include intact and damage stability calculations, weight estimate, and hydrostatic calculations, in accordance with the applicable ABS Rules and federal regulations. However, the review is preliminary, and a stability test is required upon completion of the vessel to establish final lightship values. The letter also notes that ABS is not responsible for the operation of the vessel, and it is the owner's responsibility to provide training, supervision, and guidance.
The related federal contract opportunity is for the procurement of three (3) 150'x38'x10' welded steel barges to support the civil works maintenance and repair mission of the Detroit District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The contract will require the successful bidder to fabricate and deliver the barges to the U.S. Army Engineer Detroit District in Sault Sainte Marie, MI and Duluth, MN. Bid guarantee, payment, and performance bonding will be required, and there will be liquidated damages associated with this procurement.
