About this file
This document appears to be a set of load line calculations for a 150' x 38' x 10' unmanned deck barge to be used on the Great Lakes. The calculations determine the required freeboards and maximum permissible drafts in accordance with 46 CFR Part 45 for a Type B vessel. Key details include the scantling draft of 7.76 ft, summer freeboard of 27.84 in, and displacement of 1167 LT at the load line. The calculations are considered indicative, with the final load line assignment subject to review by the USCG or a third-party classification society.
The related federal contract opportunity is an Invitation for Bid (IFB) issued by the USACE Marine Design Center for the procurement of three 150' x 38' x 10' welded steel barges. The barges will support the civil works maintenance and repair mission of the Detroit District. The successful contractor will be required to fabricate and deliver the barges to the USACE Engineer Detroit District in Sault Sainte Marie, MI and Duluth, MN. Bid guarantee, payment, and performance bonding will be required. RFIs should be submitted by June 21, 2024.

888‐B140‐01 Cathodic Protection Design Calculations ‐ Great Lakes Load Line Calculations
The calculations contained herein are performed to determine the required freeboards as set forth in 46 CFR Part 45 - Great Lakes Load Lines for a Type B vessel. The freeboards calculated are indicitive of the required freeboards based on the geometric properties of the barge. Final authority for load line assignment rests with USCG and/or third party classification society and is subject to other factors (ie stability requirements, USACE self limited drafts, ect) that may result in different freeboard requirements being officially assigned.
