SOLICITATION W50S6Y-24-B-0002 Repair Hanger B1001 (MTX) Set 06 Q&A
04/17/24
1. RFI 005 #22 answer says see RFI 004 #22 which says the CMU wall elevations are shown on sheets A-110A and A-005, however they are not. Please provide an elevation to top of new CMU walls.
A-E Response: CMU walls are to be built to the underside of the existing mezzanine structure, which varies but is approximately 9’-0” in height. See details on sheet A-531 for reference.
2. RFI 005 #27 answer says slab thicknesses are on sheets S-102A-102D. However, the only reference to slab thickness is a note which says
i. “THICKNESS AND REINFORCING NOT KNOWN”
ii. “SLAB THICKNESS NOT KNOWN, F.V. PRIOR TO SAWCUTTING SLAB AND
NOTIFY E.O.R. FOR REVIEW/APPROVAL PRIOR TO CUTTING TRENCHES”
iii. “VERIFY THICKNESS OF EXISTING SLAB BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH
CONSTRUCTION OF NEW SLAB. IF EXISTING SLAB IS LESS THAN 4" IN DEPTH,
NOTIFY DESIGN PROFESSIONAL FOR REVISED JOINT DETAIL.”
There really should be an assumed thickness for all slab for bidding purposes. This will allow all Contractors to bid apples to apples. Can all bidders assume 4”: slabs for bidding, the awarded contractor can verify thickness post award and inform the Government if it varies?
A-E Response: Known slab thicknesses are represented in keynotes S19, S20, S21, S23 on sheets S-102A to S-102D. Keynote S24 and diagonal hatch (see legend) represent slabs that we do not have information about. Assume 6” slab in areas where actual thickness is unknown.
3. RFI 005 #38 answer does not address the question. The dotted line around the note A6 referred to in #38 is as shown in the snapshot. Please identify this line.
a.
A-E Response: The 2’-0” clear space required for a GFGI work bench.
4. RFI 005 #75 Please confirm if the exposed structure in the hangar bay is to be painted as well.
A-E Response: No.
5. RFI 005 #76 question asks about cutting existing slab and repouring with recess for the walkoff mats. The response says no recessed needed for WM-1. That response is correct for WM-1, but what about SB-1 Switchboard Mats and WLK-1 Milliken, will recessed slabs be needed for these?
A-E Response: SB-1 is a loose lay switchboard mat to sit on top of finished floor. WLK-1 is a walk-off carpet tile that does not require recessing.
6. RFI 005 #81 says contractor to protect equipment to remain. To bid this we must know what equipment will be left in construction areas and where that equipment is located. Please provide more information about each piece of equipment to remain.
A-E Response: Government to respond about what equipment is to remain
7. RFI 005 #82 questions asked for confirmation that the transition between the 5-coat resinous and the 3 coat resinous flooring systems. The response says per the manufacturers recommendation.
We do not feel this is an acceptable response. We respectfully request clear direction from the design of record if the condition shown on the transition detail on sheet I-602 should be followed or if the coatings can be tapered without cutting and chipping concrete.
A-E Response: Transition detail on sheet I-602 and manufacturer’s recommendation should be followed. Tapering does not protect the integrity of the Resinous Epoxy system and is not acceptable.
8. RFI 005 #96 says only restrooms get flooring demo. However, the finish plans suggest all rooms get new finished flooring. Furthermore, the photos from our site visit show VCT flooring in the Avionics Maintenance shop 176. To avoid change orders please identify all existing floor finishes.
A-E Response: All installation of new flooring is to be prepped in accordance with the specifications. GC can assume that demolition of resilient flooring, carpet tile and so on will be required in rooms that receive new flooring.
9. RFI 005 #96 Does existing epoxy floor coatings need to be removed to allow new flooring finishes to be installed?
A-E Response: The epoxy specified is a new system and will require removing the existing coating.
10. RFI 002 #5 says added grounding connection to main grounding bus is needed in room 136. Does any of this require new underground?
A-E Response: New underground is not required for the referenced scope.
11. E-017: Lighting Plan – Area C, Key Note #2 states existing architectural indirect wall mount fixtures are to be replaced with new LED wall mount sconces in the vestibule. Please provide the total number of fixtures to be replaced and state which fixture type is to be used.
A-E Response: Reuse existing lighting within this space/vestibule and interface with new controls. See revised sheet E-015, E-017, ED-006, AND ED-008.
12. Panel LE2, XFMR-LE2, and their associated disconnects and feeders are missing from the one-line diagram. Please provide sizing for the feeders to be provided for the equipment.
A-E Response: See revised One Line Power diagram E-007.
13. Regarding panelboards to replaced or to remain, conflicting direction is given for panels 1C, 1E, 1F, 1H, 1J, 1L, and LB1A. See table below:
Panel E-024 thru E-030
Panelboard Schedules E-006, E-007 One- Line Diagrams

1C Existing Panel Existing to Remain Replace Panel
1E None Provided Existing to Remain Replace Panel
1F Existing Panel Replace Panel Existing to Remain
1H None Provided Existing to Remain Replace Panel
1J None Provided Existing to Remain Replace Panel
1L None Provided Not Shown Replace Panel
LB1A Existing Panel Replace Panel Replace Panel
A-E Response: Refer to revised E and ED drawings for clarification.
14. Please confirm each to be existing to remain or replaced. Provide missing panel schedules for those to be replaced.
A-E Response: See response to #13 above. Missing panel schedules will be provided only for panels called for replacement or requiring new circuits.
15. Per Q&A set 02 #3 A-E response, all existing to remain loads fed from busway are to be reconnected to new busway, however quantity and electrical requirements for these loads are not provided and cannot be reasonably estimated from the documents provided. Each connection representing significant material and labor cost, there is significant possible variation in pricing for this scope. Please provide quantities and amp ratings for existing loads fed from busway to be included in electrical scope.
A-E Response: Refer to revised E drawings for clarification.
