91. None of the signs shown on sheet IG602 match those used on IG601 signage schedule. Please confirm which is correct.

A-E Response: See sheet IG601 – Signage Schedule – Sign Type column and Sheet IG602. Sign details on IG602 are to show details and characteristics of each sign type, not exact verbiage to be used. For exact verbiage refer to Signage Schedule on sheet IG601.

92. General note #7 on all demo sheets AD101A-101D state that all painted surfaces are assumed to be lead paint. However, the Hazardous Materials Report provided in the specs states in the Findings section that of all 98 samples collected from various areas around the building, only 1 sample on one door contained lead. To treat all painted surfaces as lead will greatly increase the demolition costs. With this information in mind, should the contractors still treat all painted surfaces as lead contaminated paint?

A-E Response: Use the Hazardous materials report.

93. General note #7 on all demo sheets AD101A-101D state that all painted surfaces are assumed to be lead paint. Does this apply to the existing floor coatings as well?

A-E Response: See response to #92

94. If all painted surfaces are to be assumed as lead contaminated, should all painted surfaces that are to remain such as CMU an precast concrete walls, doors and frames, exposed ceilings, etc, get fully abated or can it be left in place and encapsulated?

A-E Response: Use the Hazardous Materials Report to determine which painted materials are positive and the Specifications to guide required contractor actions.

95. If painted surfaces of items to remain are to be fully abated what product is to be used;

mechanical or chemical abatement?

A-E Response: Refer to Specification 02 83 00.

96. The demo drawings AD101A-101D only show restroom tile flooring to be removed. Please identify the type of existing flooring for demolition in ALL areas of the building. This should include any floor coatings which will need to be ground or shot-blasted to prepare for new finished flooring.

A-E Response: The restrooms are the only areas designated for flooring to be demolished.

Follow manufacturer instructions, specifications and notes on finish plans and schedules for preparation of floors prior to installation of new flooring.

97. Does any of the new steel need to be fireproofed?

A-E Response: New steel does not need to be fireproofed unless surrounding framing is fireproofed

98. Notes 14, 15, 16 on PD110B appear to call for all under slab plumbing associated with removal of certain plumbing fixtures back to the mains. Is the intent here to sawcut and demo existing concrete, remove the under slab piping and patch back the concrete?

A-E Response: The modified space for the area where note 14 is present is an office, and there is no need for a floor drain. There are incomplete existing sanitary drawings for this space, so the intent is to sawcut and demo the existing floor drain below slab and cap it. For notes 15 and 16, those fixtures are being completely removed, so demo and cap as shown on the plumbing plan.

99. If the intent of Notes 14, 15, 16 on PD110B is to remove and patch concrete, please identify the slab thickness.

A-E Response: See response to Question #27

100. Detail E4&A1/P-501 shows new emergency eye wash fixtures. The details are used on the new plumbing drawings P-110A-110D. These fixtures have underground sanitary drains. Will new underground sanitary lines be required under slab, or do they use existing drains?

A-E Response: Per UFC and International Plumbing code, drain are not required for emergency fixtures. Where floor drains are not shown on plan, floor drains will not be provided.

101. Sheet P-110A calls out 2” dia. sanitary lines. Are these new sanitary lines which need to be installed under the existing concrete slab, or are they existing?

A-E Response: These 2” diameter sanitary lines are connected from a pump and routed above the ceiling per note 6. The 2” line is to be routed to the nearest plumbing stack in the ceiling through the addition of a hub drain. Please refer to the updated Drawing P-110B in a forthcoming Amendment.

102. Note #5 on sheet P110A says to cleanout sanitary piping from this space to confirm no clogs. Cap all sanitary in this space. Is this under slab existing sanitary?

A-E Response: Correct. This is an existing line, and there is a floor drain in that space. The existing floor drain has no use in the modified building. As it currently exists, staff made it known that the line has a clog and tends to provide a foul odor in that space. The existing record drawings for sanitary were incomplete, so the routing beyond the floor drain is unknown.

103. Note #6 sheet P110A says to connect 2” sanitary to discharge line from DP-1. Is this sanitary under slab and requires concrete removal and patching?

A-E Response: These 2” diameter sanitary lines are connected from a pump and routed above the ceiling per note 8. The 2” line is to be routed to the nearest plumbing stack in the ceiling through the addition of a hub drain. Please refer to the updated Drawing P-110B in a forthcoming Amendment.

104. Just so we can clearly answer the question, is there any new or existing plumbing that requires the existing concrete slab to be removed and patched back? Please identify these locations.

A-E Response: Mechanical drawings show existing plumbing that requires slab removal/patching on PD110X series and new plumbing lines shown on P-110X series

105. HVAC demo sheets MD110A-110D show existing HVAC louvers in the exterior precast walls that get removed. When compared with the new HVAC drawings MH110A-110D many of these louver penetrations do not get reused. There does not appear to be any indication in the plan how to infill these HVAC penetrations. Please provide details.

A-E Response: Note A43 on sheet A-201 describes how these openings are to be in-filled. Refer to HVAC demo plans for quantities of louvers to be demolished and in-filled.

106. At locations where the exterior stucco wall is patched, will the patches get painted to match existing as close as possible or will the entire exterior wall need to be painted around the patches?

A-E Response: It is not project intention to paint the whole bldg exterior

107. There appear to be many new penetrations in the exterior precast walls for ductwork to new DOAS units. These penetrations are not denoted as new penetrations on the structural sheets. Do these unidentified penetrations get framed with structural steel as all other penetrations shown on the structural sheets?

A-E Response: Revised drawings in forthcoming Amendment have been updated to include additional penetrations.

108. Mechanical piping demo sheets MD120A-D shows piping removed that will leave penetration in the existing precast walls. How do these pipe penetrations get infilled?

A-E Response: See response to Q&A set 04, #29

109. At locations where the existing piping is removed at the precast walls, will the stucco need to be patched?

A-E Response: Yes. Where existing pipes are demolished through precast, the openings should be patched with stucco and painted to match existing.

110. At locations where the existing piping is removed at the precast walls and the exterior stucco wall is patched, will the patches get painted to match existing as close as possible or will the entire exterior wall need to be painted around the patches?
