SCOPE

Identification

This specification establishes the methodology used for the assessment of the computational performance of the Maintenance Support Device-Version 4 (MSD-V4).

This document evaluates the performance of the MSD-V4L.

System Overview

The MSD-V4 system of the Integrated Family of Test Equipment (IFTE) is the Army’s Sixth generation at-platform multipurpose standard automatic test equipment. The MSD-V4 will be used throughout all levels of maintenance as the Army’s standard general purpose At-Platform Automatic Test System (APATS) to test and diagnose highly complex communications, other electronic commodity equipment, missiles, aircraft, and ground vehicles to identify failed line replaceable units (LRUs). The Department of Defense (DoD) maintainers will also use the MSD-V4 system to host Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) and/or specific application software and to upload/download mission data or software.

System and Kit

The MSD-V4L and the MSD-V4L Kit with optional accessories, are identified in the MSD-V4L specification, MIS-DTL-58668.

The minimum acceptable System Performance specification is listed in section 3.8.7 of

MIS-DTL-58668, SYSTEM SPECIFICATION FOR THE MAINTENANCE SUPPORT

DEVICE-VERSION 4 LIGHT;

3.8.7 System Performance

Utilizing PassMark® Software Pty Ltd V8.0 Benchmark software, the MSD-V4L shall achieve or exceed a benchmark of 1400 threshold (objective is 2000). The same benchmark software as noted either by this specification or contract shall be employed when providing the benchmark results and measurements.

This software may be obtained at http://www.passMark.com/products/pt.htm.

Offerors interested in this contract can obtain the software from the PassMark site.

Although, the latest version of PassMark® available is version 9, version 8 should be utilized. Data obtained utilizing the newer version will not be used for acceptance.

http://www.passmark.com/products/pt.htm

From the PassMark.com site, select Software, then Performance Test, then select Download Now (50

MB).

Then From the Download Page Select the Performance Test 8.0 (old) Version and select the Download Old Version under the Download column

1.) Install the application, petest.exe, onto the computer desktop. (location is unimportant).

Starting the executable should start the PerformanceTest 8 Setup Wizard. Click the Next Button

Note; the machine should be running Windows 10 Enterprise Operating System. No other applications should be running

2.) When the application starts, accept the user License Agreement. Click the “ I accept the agreement” Radio Button and click the Next Button.

3.) The application should install the software in C:\Program Files\Performance Test. Click the Next Button.

4.) The application then displays the location of the test. Accept the default location and Click the Next Button.

5.) Click the Install Button.

6.) Click the Finish Button

7.) The PassMark Licensing Screen should be displayed next. Enter a license key or select the continue button for a free 30 day evaluation.

8.) Select the RUN BENCHMARK Option, (note; the machine should have warmed up for at least a period of 10 minutes. All Tests should be performed at laboratory ambient conditions as specified in section 4.3.5 of MIS-DTL-58668, SYSTEM SPECIFICATION FOR THE MAINTENANCE SUPPORT DEVICE-VERSION 4 LIGHT and on AC power).

9.) When the Run all benchmark test? Window is displayed, select the yes button.

10.) The benchmark application should now start displaying the progress bar.

11.) The performance test should take several minutes to complete. At completion it should display the composite score.

If you would like explanation of any of the parameters, click the explain button. This will send you to the PassMark site;

Note; the user may uncheck the “Upload My Baseline” box in the PassMark Rating composite score window should the performance of the tested system be deemed confidential.

12.) Select the OK Button 13.) Select File Option 14.) Export Results as Text 15.) Accept the default path. This should write a notepad file named PerfRes.txt in

Documents\PassMark\performance test.

16.) Repeat steps 8 through 15 ten times with a period of 5 minutes between iterations and then take the average. This is the Average Composite Performance Score and this is what will be used to determine if the MSD-V4L meets either the threshold or objective.
