About this file
This is a Soil/Aggregate Test Report prepared by Western Technologies Inc. (WT) for Pulice Construction, Inc. on behalf of the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) for the Kingman-Ash Fork Highway (I-40) project. The report documents three proctor test samples collected from native soil stockpile locations along I-40 west of Kingman, Arizona, with samples obtained on January 15, 2025, and tested through January 24, 2025. The material samples, designated as ARIZ 248 #1, #3, and #1, are classified as silty sand with gravel and silty clayey sand with gravel (SC-SM and SC-SM unified soil classifications) intended for use in highway ramp construction. Testing was conducted using standardized ASTM and AASHTO methodologies, including sieve analysis, liquid and plastic limit determinations, water content measurements, compaction characteristics via AASHTO T89 Method B with manual rammer application, and expansion index calculations. Key test results indicate dry unit weights ranging from 120.5 to 122.0 lbf/ft³, water contents between 9.1 and 10.5 percent, plasticity indices varying from 3 to 7, and fines content (material passing No. 200 sieve) between 17 and 20 percent. All samples demonstrated acceptable soil classification and compaction properties suitable for highway construction applications.
The test report certifies that services were performed in accordance with locally practiced standards of care and relate solely to the condition and samples observed at the time and location of testing. Western Technologies Inc. makes no other warranty or representation regarding source materials submitted by others and reserves the right to restrict reproduction of the report without prior written approval. The report was reviewed by project personnel including Brian Dean (Project Manager) and various laboratory technicians, with sample locations precisely documented at station points 2956+92, 2967+76, and 2974+20 along the I-40 corridor. No pricing information, contractual terms, set-asides, or incumbent vendor details are contained within this technical testing document, as it functions solely as supporting technical documentation for material quality verification on the roadway project.
