Specification Section 01 78 00 Paragraph 3.1 states to provide and maintain two black line print copies of the PDF contract drawings for As-Built Drawings.
Please consider allowing the GC to maintain a record set that is posted electronically and then printed at the end of the job as the final owner deliverable.
Please confirm this is acceptable.
ANSWER: Maintaining redlined hard copies on site for as-built drawings per Spec Section 01
78 00 Paragraph 3.1 is required. This paragraph states, “Provide and maintain two black line print copies of the PDF contract drawings for As-Built Drawings.
Maintain the as-builts throughout construction as red-lined hard copies on site and red-lined PDF files.” To clarify further, As-Built Drawings and Record Drawings are different submittals. See Spec Section 01 78 00 Paragraphs 1.2.2, 1.4 and 3.2 regarding Record Drawings.
229. A-607
Reference A1/A-607 and C1/S-606. The windowsill appears to be shown as cast in place.
There is not a detail for the windowsill condition in the structural drawings that outlines this element. Can this element be a precast sill, or is it a means and methods consideration?
ANSWER: The window sill needs to be CIP with the wall. See detail C4/S-603.
230. A-740
'Reference C1/A-740 and C1/S-606. The exterior wall indicates an architectural feature element that is not detailed or dimensioned. Is detail C1/A751 the dimensioning for this element? Can this element be composed if insulation material fastened to the concrete wall under the EFS.
ANSWER: See detail C1/ A-751 for dimensions. This cornice shall be CIP with the wall as shown on C1/A-740. See also detail C1/ S-606.
231. A-740
Reference B3/A-740 which call out roof battens. Can these battens be cement board members mechanically fastened to the roof slab? Please provide a structural detail which outlines and defines the construction of these items.
ANSWER: No, the battens are integral with the CIP roof slab system as noted and shown on
B3/ A-740. Creating the battens is a means and methods item.
232. S-606
Reference S-606 which show the roof gutters. Is the use of precast elements for the gutters considered means and methods?
ANSWER: Use of precast elements for gutters is a variation to the contract drawings.
233. A-610
'Reference A-610, Interior Color & Material Schedule, CON-1 which states bonded abrasive highly polished concrete surface and, in the remarks, requests a mock-up. We cannot find this procedure in specification 03 30 00. Please provide a specification reference that outlines this finish procedure as well as define the extent of the mock-up. Is the mock up in-place or in addition to base construction.
ANSWER: Collection/ Style/ Color/ Finish and Remarks for CON-1 will be revised and clarified on Sheet A-610 in a future Amendment.
234. 31 23 00.00 20
Reference contract Specification Section 31 23 00.00 20 para. 3.4.1
Specification section 31 23 00.00 20 para. 3.4.1 states a 15 ton roller is required for proof rolling.
Can a 10 ton drum roller be considered sufficient for proof rolling and if any subsidence (any sinking) occurs, Contractor shall revert back to a 15 ton roller for those areas.
ANSWER: A 15-ton roller is the minimum weight of roller that can be used for proof rolling. A
10-ton roller for proof rolling is not permitted.
235. Reference A3/A-304 as well as A1&A3/A-305 which shows a storm shutter embedded in the concrete wall. C1/S-601 show a block out that is not dimensioned. 1. Please provide dimensioning and detailing of the block out for the storm shutter and associated track assembly as well as the extent of the block out in the wall. There appears to be no structural details provided to indicate on how to accommodate the recessed track for the shutter and notch in the opening for the shutter housing. Additionally, the expansion anchors for the window header steel will likely conflicts with the vertical reinforcement. 2. Please provide a reinforcement detail for the window openings that accommodate the block outs for the shutter, shutter track, and window steel anchors.
ANSWER: See detail C1/ A-607.
236. P-603
Reference P-603. The drawing outlines (8) proposed radon exhaust fans. I was unable to find them on the Mechanical or plumbing equipment schedule. Are these fans required?
ANSWER: See Section 31 21 13 Radon Mitigation, 1.1 Summary: Provide all work necessary to reduce and maintain radon concentration levels below 4.0 picoCuries per liter (pCi/L). Perform mitigation system installation, and perform post-mitigation testing and monitoring for radon. Initial ASD system installation does not include fan. Fan will be added if radon concentration exceeds required levels.
237. A-607, A-608
Reference: A-607 and A-608. Many of the sections show a vapor barrier on the inside face of the building along with EFS on the exterior. Is the interior vapor barrier required?
ANSWER: No, the vapor barrier (retarder) will be eliminated on sheets A-502, A-607, A-608, A-610, A-740 and A-750 in a future Amendment. We will also eliminate specification section 07 27 26 – FLUID-APPLIED MEMBRANE AIR BARRIER in a future Amendment.
238. A-607
Reference: C1&A1/A-607.
Do the drip edges shown at the head and sill receive EFS.
ANSWER: Yes, details A1 & C1/A-607 will be revised to clarify the EFS at drip edges in a future Amendment.
239. 01 50 00
Specification 01 50 00 Temporary Construction Facilities and Controls subsection 3.3.3 notes that " The Government will make all reasonably required utilities available". Please clarify when and where water, power and sewer construction temporary utility tie-ins will be made available for this project. Please provide the prevailing rates for utility usage charges if they will be assessed during construction.
ANSWER: Question 239 is currently referring to Specification Section 01 50 00 paragraph
3.3.3 but it is inferred that the appropriate paragraph to reference is 3.3.2. A future amendment will revise Specification Section 01 50 00 to require Contractor to provide their own power, water, sewer and other utilities necessary during construction.
240. 03 30 00
Specifications 03 30 00 Paragraph 2.5.2.4 states temperature of concrete as delivered must not exceed 90degree F. However, ACI 305.1 Specifications for Hot Weather Concreting
Section 3.2.1 indicates the maximum temperature of fresh concrete at the time of discharge shall be 95 Degree *F.
1) Due to weather conditions, travel time, and the use of admixtures please confirm a maximum concrete temperature at delivery shall be 95 degree*F.
ANSWER: A future amendment will revise Specification Section 03 30 00 to state that the maximum concrete temperature at delivery shall be 95°F.
241. TOC & 32 16 19
The Project Table of Contents - Volume 2 as shown in Amendment 0014 does not list specification section 32 16 19 Concrete Curbs, Gutters and Sidewalks, which was added in Amendment 0004. Should it still be in the TOC or was it removed?
ANSWER: 32 16 19 should still be in the TOC. We will correct in the next Amendment.
242. 03 42 13.00 10 Page(s): 2 and 8, Substitute ASTM A1094 for ASTM A767
INFORMATION: Confirm it will be structurally acceptable to use ASTM A1094 Galvanized Reinforcing Bars in lieu of ASTM A767 Zinc-Coated (Galvanized) Steel Bars for Concrete Reinforcement.
The continuous galvanized processing method in conformance with A1094 allows for consistent control of the pure zinc metallurgically bonded thickness, resulting in an abrasion resistant durable homogeneous surface that can be post bent after processing and field adjusted without compromising the base steel properties or mechanistic coating damage as compared to A767. A1094 is available through a seamless supply chain that optimizes equality and QC/QA traceability measures for fabricator(s) as opposed to A767
ANSWER: Spec Section 03 42 13.00 10 remains unchanged.
