24 9/25/2018 Under unit pricing on bid form, there’s a line item for pipe insulation. Due to various pipe sizes and insulation requirements dependent on each system, please advise as to a pipe size and system to properly base a LF unit price.

The bid form is requesting unit cost as basis of unit pricing for potential/additional removals.

Provided LF cost for 4" pipe insulation remediation. Bidder may qualify basis for type of insulation priced.

275 10/19/2018 Per B404b drawing number 12776203 page M‐602, and spec section 23 00 00, page 26: specification calls for copper fins on coils, with electrofin coating. This construction in addition to the coil coating is redundant. Would aluminum fin coils with electrofin coating for corrosion protection meet the intent of the specification?

Aluminum fin coils with electrofin coating would meet the intent of the specification for the energy recovery ventilation unit.

AD‐151

Demolition Keyed Note 1 on Drawing AD‐151 indicates that the B74A slab and foundation are to be removed and points to the Site and Phasing Drawing Package for details. Please identify the slab and foundation detail drawing.

Slab and foundation of B74A slab are to be demolished. Assume 12" thick slab on grade, plus 12" haunch at perimeter.

287 10/19/2018

GC‐102

Mechanical Utility Phasing Note M1 on Drawing GC‐102 calls for the continuation of Phase 2A utilities terminated south of B74 to continue to B362. This route is shown to run through the temporary mechanical enclosure west of B74, to be installed prior to the B74 West Wing demolition. It is our understanding that the temporary mechanical enclosure will remain in use until after Shop 06 vacates B74 which will not be until Phase 6. Please advise if this routing is to be revised to allow for installation of these utilities while the temporary mechanical enclosure is in place.

Routing will not be revised;

construction of mechanical utilities under the temporary mechanical enclosure will need to to be installed prior to temporary mechanical enclosure slab installation. Contractor to provide temporary caps as needed beyond footprint of slab.

301 10/19/2018 Please clarify the scope of B151 slab and foundation demolition. CD‐111 and C‐111 seem to indicate that all of the slab remains in place, except for the steam/condensate and electrical utilities that impact it.

AD‐111, AD‐311, SD‐111 and SD‐311 seem to call for slab and foundation removals.

Refer to drawings SD-111 and SD- 311 for clarification of final state of slab.

Vol. 3 A‐515

Drawing A‐515 classsifies the "Tactical Acoustical Panels" to be under bid option: CLIN 0011 Option Item NO. 10. However the bid form shows bid option: CLIN 0011 as "Building 149 Demolition", and then lists the acoustical panels as a unit price item. Please clarify.

13.00 20.

304 10/19/2018 The Solicitation, Offer, and Award, Section 11 identifies the contract duration as 1700 days from award. Factor 2 (i) identifies the contract duration as 1700 calendar days and identifies an anticipated award date of 12/31/18. This would result in a CCD of 8/27/23. The phasing schedule provided in Additional Information (c) on page 31 of 67 of the Solicitation identifies an 8/2/23 start for Phase 7 with a 117 day duration. This would result in Phase 7 completion by 11/27/23. Please confirm the correct contract duration and phasing schedule.

See question 6, posted on Amendment 0015

316 10/19/2018 Spec section 09 84 20 Acoustic Wall Panels is included but nothing is listed on the interior finish schedule.

Please advise.

Refer to Volume 6, drawing A‐402;

this drawing indicates "WP‐full height on the wall", with Note 12 "direct mounted acoustical curtain". These curtains in Building 74 are direct mounted as indicated.

Drawing M‐601: RF1 RF2 RF3 ‐ are one of the fans a redundant backup for th VLP 90,000 cfm dust collector?

Similar question for RF 4 RF 5 RF 6 for the shaft collector?

For fans RF‐1, RF‐2, and RF‐3, all three fans operate at the same time, on individual VF drives. Per the sequence on drawing M‐706, if one fan fails, the damper for that fan closes, and the other fans increase speed to satisfy the air flow requirement. The fans are sized so that two fans can provide the full air flow and pressure required.

Three fans operate when possible, for reduced electrical energy consumption. The same is true for fans RF‐4, RF‐5, and RF‐6.

435 10/31/2018 RE DWG M709: M709 Shafts Area operating schematic shows a 3rd fan capable of an additional 100,500cfm over the requirement for the space. Is there anything in the control scheme that prevents the dust collectors and ducting system from being run over the specified air volumes? VLP operating scheme is the same.

Under normal circumstances, all three fans run at the same rotational speed to provide the required air flow rate, based on feedback from the air flow sensors. This will require programming the sequence of operations as written, into the control system. If one fan fails, its damper closes and the remaining two fans operate at higher speed to provide the required flow rate. This is the same control scheme as the air handlers, which have extra fan capacity and backdraft dampers in case one fan fails. The control sytem shall be programmed to not allow manual fan speed settings.

439 10/31/2018 RE DWG M601: Column labeled "filtration MERV" on dust collector schedule states MERV 17 for 11 entries and HEPA for the remainder. MERV15 & 14 are stated and numerous places throughout the specifications.

Please confirm that MERV 15 is acceptable for the primary/cartridge filters on the project. Also, please confirm if MERV15 is the minimum requirement for primary/cartridge filters

The Dust Collector Schedule on drawing M‐601 lists the final filtration requirement for the dust collector. If the dust collector has two stages of filtration, MERV‐15 is acceptable for the first stage. If the dust collector does not have a second stage of filtration, such as DC‐8 through 11, the dust collector will need to meet the MERV rating as scheduled.

440 10/31/2018 RE DWG M601: DC 1 thru 4, blast booth dust collectors state an air to media ratio of 1.8:1. This will result in a selction of a much larger dust collector than necessary for this application based on currently available technology. Can this AMR be deviated from?

PNS Action, Suggested Response:

AMR may be greater than 1.8 but must meet requirements of 11 30 02.

441 10/31/2018 RE DWG M601: DC 5 is stated to be 5,000 cfm @ 17" w.g. with a 25hp belt drive fan. Can this be a machine mount, direct drive fan, so long as the volume and static requirements are met?

YES. 17

442 10/31/2018 RE DWG M601: DC5 is listed as a model DFO2‐8. The DFO & DFE filters are not interchangeable. Can a DFE model be selected for this application to resolve this specification conflict? This rating is also stretching the limits of this collector. Can an alternate selection of a DFE2‐4 be made to better fit the application? It would also comply with the filter interchangeability requirement. The stated air to media ratio on this entry is erroneous also.

Yes a DFE model can be use as a basis of design.

444 10/31/2018 RE DWG M601: DC 7 ‐ Parameters are slightly different than the previous question on DC6, but the very same questions exist as in prior entry.

Yes a DFE model can be use as a basis of design.

445 10/31/2018 RE DWG M601: DC12 is stated to be a model DFE2‐ 8,rated for 6,000cfm @10" w.g. serviced by belt drive fan EF ‐ 13. The volume rating of 6,000cfm in typical rubber compunding operations would be pushing the limits of this collector. A 12 cartridge collector would be a more appropriate selection if filter life is a concern.

Air to media on this entry is erroneous also.

A 12 cartridge DFE can be used as a design basis.

446 10/31/2018 RE DWG M708: Schematic shows DC18 paired with fan EF19. Fan schedule staes this fan to be rated at a TSP of .5"w.g. . This does not seem correct. Assuming that the 5" TSP listed on the DC schedule, is it okay to provide an alternate fan selection that will work?

Yes, the Fan Schedule will be corrected.
