Section Paragraph

What is the intent of the PEMB options (Options 8 & 9) for the high bay areas?

Are we to change the exterior veneer and roof systems to receive the full benefit or efficiencies of a PEMB system? If not, we do not believe that this will produce a cost savings and if anything will over-complicate the structure and envelope systems (resulting in higher costs). Please consider deleting these options.

See Amendment

26 Basis Of Design Ext. Wall Framing

The Basis of Design section of the RFP states that the exterior wall system shall be non-loadbearing reinforced CMU back-up for the exterior skin components. Would the government consider the use of heavy gauge metal stud framing for the back-up wall, instead of CMU? This would result in substantial time savings for the project schedule.

Part 3 - Ch.

6/ESR C10,

C103003 Marker Boards And Tack Boards

The Visual Communication System states that it must have "upper track rails with continuous tackable insert…Provide continuous presentation rail at 36" above finish floor." It is not clear as to how this system is configured. Is the Government requesting a 2-track system, one for the porcelain maker boards that is installed every 5 LF and one for the a the continuous tack board that will go behind the procelain marker boards?

See Amendment

Part 3, Ch. 5 Room Requirements

C103003 Marker Boards And Tack Boards

For the 24-person classroom, it calls out for 50 LF of the Visual Communication System (VCS) to be installed in the room. However, none of the wall lengths for this room type are shorter than 50 LF. The longest wall span in this room is about 33'-8" which is a side wall for the classroom and the front wall span is approximately 20'-6" long.

Please provide the location of the 50 LF requirement in the room. Is the intent to have the VCS span across multiple walls in the classroom? Or is the intent for the VCS only across the front of the classroom?

There is a conflict between the RFP elevations, structural layout, and code requirements for the construction of the third floor roof areas. Given the required floor to floor height between the third and fourth floor, the required step down between fourth floor and the roof, minimum roof slope requirements, minimum parapet heights, and the column-free span being requested, the requested ceiling height of 12' is not attainable. Please confirm that the ceiling heights on the 3rd floor can be reduced to accommodate this criteria.
