AMENDMENT 0006

The purpose of this amendment is to provide the following:

1. Phase II RFI Responses

All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.

PHASE II RFI RESPONSES

38. Reference: Sect 03 45 00-1.9

Section 03 45 00-1.9 requires that the cast stone erector who is not certified by PCI retain a PCI Field Auditor to conduct a field audit of a project in the same category as this project prior to the start of cast stone erection and must submit the Erector's Post Audit Declaration to be considered qualified. The Erector is also to submit three samples of the same cast stone product installed in similar projects. This would be very impractical for the job to coordinate other projects with this job in a timely manner. It is normal industry practice for the masonry contractor to install cast stonework which is associated with brick. It also depends on the masonry contractor having other jobs which have cast stone included which may be unlikely, so it becomes very impractical for the masonry contractor to provide the prequalification information that is required by the specification. Please confirm It would be acceptable for the cast stone erection to be inspected by a qualified masonry inspector who is employed by the testing agency in lieu of the current specified requirements.

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Contractor to conform to the specifications and provide a subcontractor that is PCI certified or pursue the alternate course of action as provided for in the specifications

67. Reference: GJ120

The notes on GJ120 indicate to apply spray applied fireproofing to the metal roof deck and the cold-formed trusses. Please clarify the UL test required for spraying the cold-formed trusses.

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Refer to Specification Section 07 81 00 for fire resistance rating requirements.

76. Understanding that the bid is good for 120 days, is there an anticipated award date and anticipated construction notice to proceed?

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: If discussions aren’t required, the anticipated award date is mid- February 2021.

77. This number has been skipped.

78. Reference: A-113

Note 17 on sheet A-113 calls for "9' x 7' dock leveler with vehicle restraint"; however, that size is not a readily available size. Please advise if a 10’x 7’ leveler (or 8’x7’) is an acceptable size.

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: 10’x7’ is an acceptable size.

79. Reference: 11 13 19.13

This specification references an Electro-Hydraulic System (Item 2.2.5.1), Mechanical System (Item 2.2.5.2) and Air Powered System (Item 2.2.5.3) for the dock leveler. Please advise which leveler type is required and mark up the remainder of the specifications accordingly.

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Per 11 13 19.13 Section 2.2, provide Electro-Hydraulic type.

80. Reference: A-601

Overhead Door 133D is listed to include Hardware Section 8 per the door schedule. Hardware Section 8 appears to be for standard pedestrian doors. Please confirm that Door 133D should receive Hardware Section 55 to match Door 185B.

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Provide hardware section 55 for Door 133D.

81. When filling out the DBIDS registration form, who should be entered for the “Site Sponsor?”

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: LCDR Justus O’Connor.

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Response will be provided in a forthcoming amendment.

83. Reference: A-130, Legend

The legend for fall protection anchors on the roof indicates “basis of design requirements related to delegated-design fall protection anchor system” as being on the structural drawings. We are unable to find this information. Please advise.

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Refer to S-201. Design truss for 5,000 lbs point load in any direction at roof tie-offs. See arch plans for roof tie off locations.

84. Reference: A-120, Note 47/ A-144, Legend

Sheet A-120 calls for “chainlink fence” over the mechanical and electrical yards. Sheet A-144 indicates “wire mesh partition ceiling” for these areas. Please clarify the desired material and the applicable material requirements in the specification manual. There does not appear to be a standard chain link fence specification.

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Provide fence fabric as Class 1, zinc-coated steel wire with minimum coating weight of 2.0 ounces of zinc per square foot of coated surface. Fabricate fence fabric of 9-gauge wire woven in 2-inch mesh conforming to ASTM A116.

85. Reference: TN404, 5POD/ A-113, Note 16

The server cage in Room 184 is indicated as “chain link fence” on Sheet TN404 and as “wire mesh partitions” on Sheet A-113. Please clarify.

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Refer to Specification Section 10 22 13 for requirements.

86. Reference: ES102, Note 5

The chainlink fence at the Cinder City switch gear replacement calls for chain link security fence per UFC 4-022-03. As there are options within these criteria, please provide guidance for material selections (i.e.

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Remove existing post footings as part of fence demolition. For footings located in concrete pad, sawcut and remove concrete at dimensions sufficient to completely remove posts and footings. Provide neat and square sawcuts. Assume existing fence post footings are one-foot diameter.

Provide concrete patch to infill concrete pad removal. Drill and epoxy #4 bars at 12-inches on center into existing slab with 6” minimum embed. Continue #4 bar reinforcement into new slab. Finished surface of patched area must be flush with adjacent existing concrete surface as well as match texture and finish.

Provide Metal Posts for Chain Link Fence. Line, end, corner, and pull posts shall be Class 1, steel pipe, Grade A. Provide concrete footings for metal posts. Install posts in existing concrete pad as well as in concrete pad for distribution switches HPDMS-1 and HPDMS-2.

Fabricate fence fabric of 9-gauge wire woven in 2-inch mesh conforming to ASTM A116. Set fabric height at 7 feet. Fabric shall be twisted and barbed on the top selvage and knuckled on the bottom selvage. Secure fabric to posts using stretcher bars or ties spaced 15 inches on center, or by integrally weaving to integral fastening loops of end, corner, pull, and gate posts for full length of each post. Install fabric on opposite side of posts from area being secured.

Provide Barbed wire supporting arms of the 45-degree outward angle 3-strand single arm type.

Provide gate assembly conforming to ASTM F900 and/or ASTM F1184, gate leaves shall have width of ten-feet, each. Provide gate frames conforming to strength and coating requirements of ASTM F1083 for Group IA, steel pipe, with external coating Type A, nominal pipe size (NPS) 1- 1/2. GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Anchor bolt embedment shall be 8”.
