GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This project specifies the following work:
ATTENTION: THIS SPECIFICATION DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY REMOVAL OF UNEXPLODED
ORDINANCE AS WELL AS DETECTION AND DISPOSAL! THIS SPECIFICATION
IS BASED ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT THE WORKSPACE IS CLEARED OF
DANGEROUS AMMUNITION PARTS. AFTER STAKING OUT ALL CABLE ROUTES
AND CONSTRUCTION AREAS THE MOLDOVAN ARMY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR
DEDUDING AND CERTIFYING.
1. Multipurpose Range
The upgraded multipurpose range modifies an existing facility. Prior to start of the construction work several parts of the old facility need to be demolished. The existing firing line trench system at the zero meter line will be backfilled. The excess material of the road construction is the filling for the old firing line and the land filling for several new personal target pits which are not visible at the moment. Old installed concrete walkways out of big size tiles will be removed after coordination with the
Moldovan military. The terrain of the construction area is so that not all parts are visible from the firing line. In some spots the terrain has to be filled up so that a line of sight to the new installed targetry is possible.
The installed service road system can follow the existing terrain model and must not have the same height as the elevated targets.
A new installed concrete mast connected to the existing high voltage 10 kV overhead line on the boarder of the training area in the western part will be the feeding line for the multipurpose range. A new installed switch gear on the mast allows connectivity. This part is very critical and has to be coordinated with the local electricity supplier. From there, an underground high voltage line will be installed to the new transformer station north of the new range tower. Low voltage cable routes will be installed from the new transformer station to the new targetry and tower. Install also data cables in the same cable trench. A fiber optic conduit will be placed along the high voltage line to the tower and from the tower in several lengths to the end of the range for future upgrade.
Install a new gravel road system and connect to the existing road network for service purpose of the new installed targetry lanes. A graveled walkway behind the new installed firing positions connects to the tower area.
Surrounding the tower a graveled area will be used for setup and parking.
The parking area behind the tower connects also to the existing network by a separate graveled road.
The new 2-storey tower is made out of prefabricated room cells installed on a concrete platform. A galvanized steel stairwell will be installed to the upper landing on the first floor. The structure will be heated with electrical radiators. The data cabling for the range targetry starts at the computer room on the second floor with a free end of minimum 8 m and routes through all targets down-range. Very critical is the grounding of all new
- 4 -installed structures. Install a grounding system for the range tower, transformer station, connection mast and all targets.
The electrical system will be installed on the high voltage line by 3-phase network laid in three separate cables.
The 230/400V system will be installed in a 3/5 wire network, 1/3 phases, neutral and grounding. All cables are direct buried type and have to be proofed for minimum 1000V.
The data cabling is made to be installed directly in cable trench and has to be according to international telecommunication standards.
- Install new target pits, personal and vehicle fighting positions, service road network and range tower to the existing 1000 m riffle range, with all needed periphery such as electrical connection, data link and the required cable trenching.
- Install 57 each new personal concrete target pits with low voltage power panel, data box and grounding system.
- Install 8 each new vehicle concrete target pits with low voltage power panel, data box and grounding system.
- Install 2 each vehicle fighting positions l x w 4 x 7 m, one meter entrenched and additional 3-sided berm out of soil, 1 m high with a slope
2:1 m. The entrenched side walls are made of gabions filled with rocks.
The entire fighting position will be graveled as all other areas.
- Install 11 each personal fighting positions out of prefabricated concrete parts on the existing terrain with a 3-sided berm out of soil.
- For drainage purpose all graveled areas, except the entrenched fighting position, are installed so that the final height is 8 – 10 cm above existing ground.
- Install 13 each new limit marker structures with low voltage power panel.
- Install service road network to all new installed target pits.
- Install 4 each main molded plastic encased low voltage cable distributions, down-range.
- Install multiple conduit along the high voltage line and down-range to the
1000 m line
- Deliver and install new tower building made of 2 each prefabricated container elements approximately 9 x 3 m with associated stairwell and landing.
- Connect new tower structure to low voltage and data system.
- Route new high voltage line in a trench system from the existing overhead high voltage line towards the 1000 m range. Install a cut-out separator on the high voltage mast with all connection and fastening materials.
- 5 -
- Deliver and install new transformer station with low voltage feeder distributor.
Install all cable systems in copper wires.
2. Repair Heavy Duty Traffic Road
Install a new main heavy duty traffic road section in a total length of approximately 1800 m on the existing trail. The old road material must be excavated in a width of 7 m and depth 0.4 m in the total length. Excavated material will be used for new berm structures in part 1 and 3 of this specification. Install heavy load filter fabric on the new sub-grade. The compacted gravel section of the new road system with 30 cm sub-base in a width of 6 m out of gravel grain size 90/120 mm and the top layer, height 0.2 m, to be installed out of gravel grain size 0/56 mm in a width of 5 m. The new road will be equipped with shoulders on both sides out of compacted gravel grain size 0.56 in a width of each 0.50 m in the total length.
3. Combined 300 m Range 1 and 2
The upgraded Combined 300 m Range modifies two existing facilities.
Relocate berm, right wing from Range 2, if facing downrange, to the end and connect with Range 1. Entire height of new back-stop berm is 7 m and berm crest is minimum 2 m. Installed berm slopes will not exceed 1.5 : 1. All personal fighting positions and new target pits will have a berm installed in the total width of the range.
The required material for the new berm structures will be available from the right wing Range 2 and from the new profiled range floor which slopes from the fighting positions to the target array.
Install new gravel areas as walkway and parking, and connect to the existing road network. A graveled walkway, minimum 2 m wide, behind the new installed firing positions (0-meter line) will be installed for training.
- Install new target pits and personal fighting positions and graveled areas to the combined 300 m riffle range.
- Install 30 each new personal concrete target pits with grounding system.
- Install 10 each personal fighting positions out of prefabricated concrete parts on the existing terrain with a 3-sided berm out of soil.
- For drainage purpose all graveled areas, except the entrenched fighting position, are installed so that the final height is 8 – 10 cm above existing ground.
- Install 11 each new limit marker structures.
4. Raise and Extend Berm, Range 3
- 6 -
The existing berm structure on Range 3 in a depth of 930 m needs to be raised in a total length of 470 m to a total height of 8 m. The berm crest should have 6 m. Extend existing berm on the south end approximately 30 m in length. The level of the berm crest should stay horizontally with the raised part of the berm.
