About this file
This document contains details regarding an Industry Day conference to discuss the Navy's plan for dismantlement and disposal of Surface Ship Support Barges (SSSBs). The Navy will hold the conference on November 6, 2018 in Washington, D.C. to present its general scope of work, project phases, regulatory framework considerations, transportation options, and characterization of radioactive and hazardous materials aboard the SSSBs. Navy representatives from various commands and the NRC will speak. The presentation will address questions submitted in response to a prior RFI. Attendees will have the option to participate in 30-40 minute one-on-one sessions after lunch to discuss alternatives, concerns, and suggestions regarding a future solicitation. Interested parties are requested to RSVP by October 29 with attendee information and may submit additional questions by that date.
