About this file
The provided document is an Inadvertent Discovery Plan for the Sun River Bridge Replacement Project. The plan outlines the procedures to be followed if suspected archaeological material is encountered during construction. Key details include:
If archaeological material is discovered, the construction supervisor must halt work within 100 feet of the find, secure and protect the site, and notify the FHWA archaeologist. The FHWA archaeologist will then notify the land manager and the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). The SHPO may require a professional archaeologist to examine the find. If confirmed as archaeological, the appropriate course of action will be determined through consultation with the SHPO and Tribal Governments, and construction will not resume until this consultation is complete.
