About this file
This document is a Scope of Work (SOW) for the Boiler Stack Replacement project at the Minneapolis Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC) in Farmington, Minnesota. The scope includes removing and replacing two existing 30-inch refractory-lined boiler stacks with new 20-inch double-walled stainless steel vent stacks, including new inspection doors, steel supports, rain hoods, and fire stops. The replacement will extend from the basement floor to approximately five feet above the second-floor Administration Wing roof line. Additionally, the project involves replacing breechings with 16-inch double-walled stainless steel breechings filled with high-temperature fiber insulation.
The document includes three optional bid items: Option 1 involves potential removal and reinstallation of a wall in the Dish Washing Room, Option 2 covers ceiling repair in the same room, and Option 3 addresses replacement of the hot water heater flue. The contractor is required to follow OSHA confined space requirements, coordinate with the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for equipment shutdowns, and ensure all work is completed in an orderly and timely manner. The project also mandates that only one boiler stack can be removed at a time, with each stack being fully replaced and operational before another can be removed.
