1.01 SUMMARY
A. Section Includes:
1. Manually operated sunscreen roller shades.
B. Materials included in this section shall meet the requirements for High Performance Sustainable Buildings for New Construction points for the following Sections:
1. 2-5.3.2 - Reduce Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) Low-Emitting Materials
2. The contractor is expected to understand the HPSB requirements for these sections and include all applicable overhead in their base bid for the necessary documentation to achieve the above listed credits.

1.03 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: Manufacturer's specifications describing features, colors, options, accessories, for each type of unit.
1. Include installation instructions and show how installation methods may differ for different openings and mounting substrates.
2. Indicate physical properties, including fade resistance, washability, and fire hazard classification for:
B. Shop Drawings: Plans, elevations, sections, product details, installation details, operational clearances, power and control wiring diagrams, and relationship to adjacent work.
1. Window Treatment Schedule: For all roller shades. Use same room designations as indicated on the Drawings and include opening sizes and key to typical mounting details.

1. Indicate special parts and installation conditions, related to window treatment units, which are not shown or dimensioned in product data.

F. Certificates: For review and approval, submit manufacturer's written certification stating compliance with requirements for the following:
1. Fire retardance.
2. Physical properties indicated.
G. Sustainability Submittals, Product data for HPSB Compliance:
1. For products containing VOCs, documentation (material safety data sheets (MSDS), third-party certificates, or test reports) showing printed statement of VOC content.
2. VOC Content Limitations: For the specified products, submit documentation of conformance with Specification Section 01 6116 – Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Content Restrictions.
H. Contract Closeout Submittals:
1. Operation and maintenance data: Include manufacturer's written operation and maintenance instructions.
1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Obtain roller shades through one source from a single manufacturer with a minimum of twenty years experience in manufacturing products comparable to those specified in this section.
B. Installer Qualifications: Installer trained and certified by the manufacturer with a minimum of five years experience in installing products comparable to those specified in this section.
C. Fire-Test Response Characteristics: Passes NFPA 701-99 small and large-scale vertical burn. Materials tested shall be identical to products proposed for use.

D. Anti-Microbial Characteristics: 'No Growth' per ASTM G 21 results for fungi
ATCC9642, ATCC 9644, ATCC 9645.
E. Environmental Certification: Submit written certification from the manufacturer, including third party evaluation, recycling characteristics, and perpetual use certification as specified below. Initial submittals, which do not include the Environmental Certification, below will be rejected. Materials that are simply 'PVC free' without identifying their inputs shall not qualify as meeting the intent of this specification and shall be rejected.
F. Third Party Evaluation: Provide documentation stating the shade cloth has undergone third party evaluation for all chemical inputs, down to a scale of 100 parts per million, that have been evaluated for human and environmental safety.
Identify any and all inputs, which are to be known to be carcinogenic, mutagenic, teratogenic, reproductively toxic, or endocrine disrupting. Also identify items that are toxic to aquatic systems, contain heavy metals, or organohalogens. The material shall contain no inputs that are known problems to human or environmental health per the above major criteria, except for an input that is required to meet local fire codes.
G. Recycling Characteristics: Provide documentation that the shade cloth can and is part of a closed loop of perpetual use and not be required to be down cycled, incinerated or otherwise thrown away. Scrap material can be sent back to the mill for reprocessing and recycling into the same quality yarn and woven into new material, without down cycling. Certify that this process is currently underway and will be utilized for this project.
H. Perpetual Use Certification: Certify that at the end of the useful life of the shade cloth, that the material can be sent back to the manufacturer for recapture as part of a closed loop of perpetual use and that the material can and will be reconstituted into new yarn, for weaving into new shade cloth. Provide information on each shade band indicating that the shade band can be sent back to the manufacturer for this purpose.
I. Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up (manual shades only) of one roller shade assembly for evaluation of mounting, appearance and accessories.
1. Locate mock-up in window designated by the Government.
2. Do not proceed with remaining work until mock-up is accepted by the Government.
1.05 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Deliver shades in factory-labeled packages, marked with manufacturer and product name, fire-test-response characteristics, and location of installation using same room designations indicated on Drawings and in the Window Treatment Schedule.

1.06 PROJECT CONDITIONS
A. Environmental Limitations: Install roller shades after finish work including painting is complete and ambient temperature and humidity conditions are maintained at the levels indicated for Project when occupied for its intended use.
1.07 WARRANTY
A. Roller Shade Hardware, Chain and Shadecloth: Manufacturer's standard non-depreciating twenty-five year limited warranty.
B. Roller Shade Installation: 3 year from date of Beneficial Occupancy, not including scaffolding, lifts or other means to reach inaccessible areas.
1.08 SUSTAINABILITY REQUIREMENTS
A. Contractor shall endeavor to provide materials with the lowest possible VOC content.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.01 MANUFACTURERS
A. A reputable manufacturer with documented experience furnishing and installing products of this specification section for a minimum of 5 years.
2.02 MANUALLY OPERATED SUNSCREEN ROLLER SHADES
A. Sunshade Cloth: Visually transparent single - fabric shade cloth.
1. Mesh Style: 3 percent open
2. Content: 70% PVC and 30% Polyester

B. Shade Bands: Construction of shade band includes the fabric, the hem weight, hem-pocket, shade roller bar, and the attachment of the shade band to roller tube. Sewn hems and open hem pockets are not acceptable.

1. Hem pockets and hem weights: fabric hem pocket with rf-welded seams (including welded ends) and concealed hem weights.
2. Mounting spline and method of attaching shade band to roller tube shall not require the use of adhesive, tapes, staples, or rivets.
C. Manual Operating Mechanism: Similar or equal to Mechoshade Electroshape parts and components. Roller shade on continuous roller, provide manually operated control system.

2.03 FABRICATION
A. Fabricate to fit actual construction; take field measurements of openings before starting fabrication.
B. Use materials that are compatible, will not need to be lubricated, and which will not adversely affect adjacent materials.
C. Make window treatment units fill each opening completely, from jamb to jamb and from head to sill, with a single unit, unless multiple units are specifically indicated.
D. Where window treatment is not set into openings, but is to be installed continuously across the face of windows or walls, fabricate units so that ends occur only over vertical mullions or other definite vertical lines, and at corners.

3.01 EXAMINATION

2.01 COUNTERTOPS
A. Stainless Steel Countertops: ASTM A666, Type 304, stainless steel sheet; 16 gage,
0.0625 inch (1.59 mm) nominal sheet thickness.
1. Edge Details: As indicated on drawings.
2. Back and End Splashes: Same material; welded 1/4 inch (6 mm) radius coved joint to countertop; square top edge with 1 inch (25 mm) wide top surface and minimum 1/2 inch (12 mm) turndown.
3. Splash Dimensions: 4 inch (100 mm) high by 1 inch (25 mm) thick, unless otherwise indicated.
B. Natural Quartz and Resin Composite Countertops: Sheet or slab of natural quartz and plastic resin over continuous substrate.
1. Applications: Countertops, window sills, and wall protection behind electric hand dryers. (Rooms 204 and 205 only)

3. Flat Sheet Thickness: 3/4 inch (19 mm), minimum.

2.02 MATERIALS
A. Plywood for Supporting Substrate: PS 1 Exterior Grade, A-C veneer grade, minimum 5-ply; minimum 3/4 inch (19 mm) thick; join lengths using metal splines.
B. Adhesives: Chemical resistant waterproof adhesive as recommended by manufacturer of materials being joined.
C. Joint Sealant: Mildew-resistant silicone sealant, clear.
2.03 FABRICATION
A. Fabricate tops and splashes in the largest sections practicable, with top surface of joints flush.
1. Join lengths of tops using best method recommended by manufacturer.
2. Fabricate to overhang fronts and ends of cabinets 1 inch (25 mm) except where top butts against cabinet or wall.
3. Prepare all cutouts accurately to size; replace tops having improperly dimensioned or unnecessary cutouts or fixture holes.

3. General Contractor shall coordinate with elevator provider to ensure all construction tolerances and limitations are known and accounted for in construction related to, or impacting, the elevator systems installation.

1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Manufacturer Qualifications: An approved manufacturer with minimum 15 years of experience in manufacturing, installing, and servicing elevators of the type required for the project.
1. The manufacturer of machines, controllers, signal fixtures, door operators cabs, entrances, and all other major parts of elevator operating equipment.

a. The major parts of the elevator equipment shall be manufactured by the installing company, and not be an assembled system.
2. The manufacturer shall have a documented, on-going quality assurance program.

B. Installer Qualifications: The manufacturer or an authorized agent of the manufacturer with not less than 15 years of satisfactory experience installing elevators equal in character and performance to the project elevators.

1.04 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
A. Manufacturing shall deliver elevator materials, components and equipment and the contractor is responsible to provide secure and safe storage on job site.
1.05 PROJECT CONDITIONS
A. Temporary Use: Elevators shall not be used for temporary service or for any other purpose during the construction period before Beneficial Occupancy and acceptance by the purchaser unless agreed upon by Elevator Contractor and General Contractor with signed temporary agreement.
1.06 WARRANTY
A. Warranty: Submit elevator manufacturer's standard written warranty agreeing to repair, restore or replace defects in elevator work materials and workmanship not due to ordinary wear and tear or improper use or care for 12 months after final acceptance.
1.07 MAINTENANCE
A. Furnish maintenance and call back service for a period of 12 months (beginning on the date of Beneficial Occupancy) for each elevator during normal working hours excluding callbacks.
1. Service shall consist of periodic examination of the equipment, adjustment, lubrication, cleaning, supplies and parts to keep the elevators in proper operation. Maintenance work, including emergency call back repair service, shall be performed by trained employees of the elevator contractor during regular working hours.
2. Submit parts catalog and show evidence of local parts inventory with complete list of recommended spare parts. Parts shall be produced by manufacturer of original equipment.
3. Manufacturer shall have a service office and full time service personnel within a 100 mile radius of the project site.
1.08 SUSTAINABILITY REQUIREMENT
A. Contractor shall endeavor to provide materials with a high recycled content.

1. A minimum post-consumer recycled content of 30% is required.
2. For products having recycled content, documentation indicating percentages by weight of postconsumer and pre-consumer recycled content.
B. Contractor shall endeavor to provide materials with a high Biobased content where possible.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.01 MATERIALS, GENERAL
A. All Elevator Cab materials including frame, buttons, lighting, wall and ceiling assembly, laminates and carpet shall have an EPD and an HPD, and shall meet the California Department of Public Health Standard Method V1.1–2010, CA Section 01350 as mentioned in 1.03.9 of this specification.
B. Colors, patterns, and finishes: As selected by the Government from manufacturer's full range of standard colors, patterns, and finishes.
C. Steel:
1. Shapes and bars: Carbon.
2. Sheet: Cold-rolled steel sheet, commercial quality, Class 1, matte finish.
3. Finish: Factory-applied baked enamel for structural parts, powder coat for architectural parts. Color selection must be based on elevator manufacture’s standard selections.
D. Plastic laminate: Decorative high-pressure type, complying with NEMA LD3, Type GP-50 General Purpose Grade, nominal 0.050" thickness. Laminate selection must be based on elevator manufacture’s standard selections.
E. Flooring by others. (Provide Acceptable Subrstrate as required by flooring finish manufacturer.) Refer to drawings for floor finish.
2.02 HOISTWAY EQUIPMENT
A. Platform: Fabricated frame of formed or structural steel shapes, gusseted and rigidly welded with a wood sub-floor. Underside of the platform shall be fireproofed. The car platform shall be designed and fabricated to support one-piece loads weighing up to 25% of the rated capacity.
B. Sling: Steel stiles bolted or welded to a steel crosshead and bolstered with bracing members to remove strain from the car enclosure.
C. Guide Rails: Steel, omega shaped, fastened to the building structure with steel brackets.
D. Guides: Slide guides shall be mounted on top and bottom of the car.

E. Buffers: Provide substantial buffers in the elevator pit. Mount buffers on continuous channels fastened to the elevator guide rail or securely anchored to the pit floor.
Provide extensions if required by project conditions.
F. Jack: A jack unit shall be of sufficient size to lift the gross load the height specified.
Factory test jack to ensure adequate strength and freedom from leakage. Brittle material, such as gray cast iron, is prohibited in the jack construction. Provide the following jack type: Single post conventional (in ground). Single polished steel hydraulic plunger housed in a steel sealed casing with sufficient clearance space to allow for alignment during installation. The casing shall have a dished endcap and safety bulkhead as required by A17.1 code. The plunger shall have a high-pressure sealing system which will not allow for seal movement or displacement during the course of operation. The jack system will be supplied with schedule 40 pvc or an HDPE protection system complying with A17.1 code requirements to prevent in ground corrosion of the casing. The jack casing shall have a bleeder valve to discharge any air trapped in the jack..
G. Automatic Self-Leveling: Provide each elevator car with a self-leveling feature to automatically bring the car to the floor landings and correct for over travel or under travel. Self-leveling shall, within its zone, be automatic and independent of the operating device. The car shall be maintained approximately level with the landing irrespective of its load.
H. Wiring, Piping, and Oil: Provide all necessary hoistway wiring in accordance with the National Electrical Code. All necessary code compliant pipe and fittings shall be provided to connect the power unit to the jack unit. Provide proper grade readily biodegradable oil as specified by the manufacturer of the power unit (see Power Unit section 2.04.G for further details)
2.03 POWER UNIT
A. Power Unit (Oil Pumping and Control Mechanism): A self-contained unit consisting of the following items:
1. An oil reservoir with tank cover.
2. An oil hydraulic pump.
3. An electric motor.
4. An oil control valve with the following components built into single housing;
high pressure relief valve, check valve, automatic unloading up start valve, lowering and leveling valve, and electro-magnetic controlling solenoids.
B. Pump: Positive displacement type pump specifically manufactured for oil-hydraulic elevator service. Pump shall be designed for steady discharge with minimum pulsation to give smooth and quiet operation. Output of pump shall not vary more than 10 percent between no load and full load on the elevator car.

C. Motor: Standard manufacture motor specifically designed for oil-hydraulic elevator service. Duty rating shall be selected for specified speed and load.
D. Oil Control Unit: The following components shall be built into a single housing.
Welded manifolds with separate valves to accomplish each function are not acceptable. Adjustments shall be accessible and be made without removing the assembly from the oil line.
1. Relief valve shall be adjustable and be capable of bypassing the total oil flow without increasing back pressure more than 10 percent above that required to barely open the valve.
2. Up start and stop valve shall be adjustable and designed to bypass oil flow during start and stop of motor pump assembly. Valve shall close slowly, gradually diverting oil to or from the jack unit, ensuring smooth up starts and up stops.
3. Check valve shall be designed to close quietly without permitting any perceptible reverse flow.
4. Lowering valve and leveling valve shall be adjustable for down start speed, lowering speed, leveling speed and stopping speed to ensure smooth "down" starts and stops. The leveling valve shall be designed to level the car to the floor in the direction the car is traveling after slowdown is initiated.
5. Provided with constant speed regulation in both up and down direction. Feature to compensate for load changes, oil temperature, and viscosity changes.
6. Solid State Starting: Provide an electronic starter featuring adjustable starting currents.
7. Oil Type: USDA certified biobased product, ultra low toxicity, readily biodegradable, energy efficient, high performing fluid made from canola oil with antioxidant, anticorrosive, antifoaming, and metal-passivating additives.
Especially formulated for operating in environmentally sensitive areas. USDA certified biobased product, >90% bio-based content, per ASTM D6866
2.04 HOISTWAY ENTRANCES
A. Doors and Frames: Provide complete hollow metal type hoistway entrances at each hoistway opening boltedknock down construction.
1. Manufacturer's standard entrance design consisting of hangers, doors, hanger supports, hanger covers, fascia plates (where required), sight guards, and necessary hardware.
2. Main landing door & frame finish: ASTM A1008 steel panels, factory applied powder coat finish with factory-applied powder coat finish entrance frame.

3. Typical door & frame finish: ASTM A366 steel panels, factory applied powder coat enamel finish with factory-applied powder coat finish entrance frame.
B. Interlocks: Equip each hoistway entrance with an approved type interlock tested as required by code. Provide door restriction devices as required by code.
C. Door Hanger and Tracks: Provide sheave type two point suspension hangers and tracks for each hoistway horizontal sliding door.
1. Sheaves: Polyurethane tires with ball bearings properly sealed to retain grease.
2. Hangers: Provide an adjustable device beneath the track to limit the up-thrust of the doors during operation.
3. Tracks: Drawn steel shapes, smooth surface and shaped to conform to the hanger sheaves.
D. Hoistway Sills: Extruded metal, with groove(s) in top surface. Provide mill finish on aluminum.
2.05 PASSENGER ELEVATOR CAR ENCLOSURE
A. Car Enclosure:
1. Walls: Cab type TKLP, durable wood core finished on both sides with high pressure plastic laminate.
2. Reveals and frieze: Not Applicable
3. Canopy: Cold-rolled steel with hinged exit.
4. Ceiling: Suspended type, LED lighting with translucent diffuser mounted in a metal frame. Framework shall be finished with a factory applied powder coat finish.
5. Cab Fronts, Return, Transom, Soffit and Strike: Provide panels faced with brushed stainless steel
6. Doors: Horizontal sliding car doors reinforced with steel for panel rigidity.
Hang doors on sheave type hangers with polyurethane tires that roll on a polished steel track and are guided at the bottom by non-metallic sliding guides.
a. Door Finish: Stainless steel panels: No. 4 brushed finish.
b. Cab Sills: Extruded aluminum, mill finish.
7. Handrail: Provide 1.5' diameter cylindrical metal on side and rear walls on front opening cars and side walls only on front and rear opening cars. Handrails shall have a stainless steel, no. 4 brushed finish.

8. Ventilation: Manufacturer’s standard exhaust fan, mounted on the car top.
9. Protection pads and buttons: Not required
B. Car Top Inspection: Provide a car top inspection station with an “Auto-Inspection” switch, an "emergency stop" switch, and constant pressure "up and down" direction and safety buttons to make the normal operating devices inoperative. The station shall give the inspector complete control of the elevator. The car top inspection station shall be mounted in the door operator assembly.
2.06 DOOR OPERATION
A. Door Operation: Provide a direct or alternating current motor driven heavy duty operator designed to operate the car and hoistway doors simultaneously. The door control system shall be digital closed loop and the closed loop circuit shall give constant feedback on the position and velocity of the elevator door. The motor torque shall be constantly adjusted to maintain the correct door speed based on its position and load. All adjustments and setup shall be through the computer based service tool. Door movements shall follow a field programmable speed pattern with smooth acceleration and deceleration at the ends of travel. The mechanical door operating mechanism shall be arranged for manual operation in event of power failure. Doors shall automatically open when the car arrives at the landing and automatically close after an adjustable time interval or when the car is dispatched to another landing. AC controlled units with oil checks, or other deviations are not acceptable.
1. No Un-Necessary Door Operation: The car door shall open only if the car is stopping for a car or hall call, answering a car or hall call at the present position or selected as a dispatch car.
2. Door Open Time Saver: If a car is stopping in response to a car call assignment only (no coincident hall call), the current door hold open time is changed to a shorter field programmable time when the electronic door protection device is activated.
3. Double Door Operation: When a car stops at a landing with concurrent up and down hall calls, no car calls, and no other hall call assignments, the car door opens to answer the hall call in the direction of the car's current travel. If an onward car call is not registered before the door closes to within 6 inches of fully closed, the travel shall reverse and the door shall reopen to answer the other call.
4. Nudging Operation: The doors shall remain open as long as the electronic detector senses the presence of a passenger or object in the door opening. If door closing is prevented for a field programmable time, a buzzer shall sound.
When the obstruction is removed, the door shall begin to close at reduced speed. If the infra-red door protection system detects a person or object while closing on nudging, the doors shall stop and resume closing only after the

obstruction has been removed.
5. Door Reversal: If the doors are closing and the infra-red beam(s) is interrupted, the doors shall reverse and reopen. After the obstruction is cleared, the doors shall begin to close.
6. Door Open Watchdog: If the doors are opening, but do not fully open after a field adjustable time, the doors shall recycle closed then attempt to open six times to try and correct the fault.
7. Door Close Watchdog: If the doors are closing, but do not fully close after a field adjustable time, the doors shall recycle open then attempt to close six times to try and correct the fault.
8. Door Close Assist: When the doors have failed to fully close and are in the recycle mode, the door drive motor shall have increased torque applied to possibly overcome mechanical resistance or differential air pressure and allow the door to close.
B. Door Protection Device: Provide a door protection system using microprocessor controlled infra-red light beams. The beams shall project across the car opening detecting the presence of a passenger or object. If door movement is obstructed, the doors shall immediately reopen.
2.07 CAR OPERATING STATION
A. Car Operating Station, General: The main car control in each car shall contain the devices required for specific operation mounted in an integral swing return panel requiring no applied faceplate. Wrap return shall have a brushed stainless steel finish. The main car operating panel shall be mounted in the return and comply with handicap requirements. Pushbuttons that illuminate using long lasting LED’s shall be included for each floor served, and emergency buttons and switches shall be provided per code. Switches for car light and accessories shall be provided.
B. Emergency Communications System: Integral phone system provided.
C. Auxiliary Operating Panel: Not Required
D. Column Mounted Car Riding Lantern: A car riding lantern shall be installed in the elevator cab and located in the entrance. The lantern, when illuminated, will indicate the intended direction of travel. The lantern will illuminate and a signal will sound when the car arrives at a floor where it will stop. The lantern shall remain illuminated until the door(s) begin to close.
E. Special Equipment: Not Applicable
2.08 CONTROL SYSTEMS
A. Controller: The elevator control system shall be microprocessor based and software oriented. Control of the elevator shall be automatic in operation by means of push

buttons in the car numbered to correspond to floors served, for registering car stops, and by "up-down" push buttons at each intermediate landing and "call" push buttons at terminal landings.
B. Automatic Light and Fan shut down: The control system shall evaluate the system activity and automatically turn off the cab lighting and ventilation fan during periods of inactivity. The settings shall be field programmable.
C. Emergency Power Operation: (Battery Lowering 10-DOC) When the loss of normal power is detected, a battery lowering feature is to be activated. The elevator will lower to a predetermined level and open the doors. After passengers have exited the car, the doors will close and the car will shutdown. When normal power becomes available, the elevator will automatically resume operation. The battery lowering feature is included in the elevator contract and does not utilize a building-supplied standby power source.
D. Special Operation: Not Applicable
2.09 HALL STATIONS
A. Hall Stations, General: Buttons shall illuminate to indicate call has been registered at that floor for the indicated direction.
1. Provide one pushbutton riser with faceplates having a brushed stainless steel finish.
a. Phase 1 firefighter’s service key switch, with instructions, shall be incorporated into the hall station at the designated level.
B. Floor Identification Pads: Provide door jamb pads at each floor. Jamb pads shall comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
C. Hall Position Indicator: Not Applicable
D. Hall lanterns: Not Applicable
E. Special Equipment: Not Applicable
2.10 MISCELLANEOUS ELEVATOR COMPONENTS
A. Oil Hydraulic Silencer: Install multiple oil hydraulic silencers (muffler device) at the power unit location. The silencers shall contain pulsation absorbing material inserted in a blowout proof housing.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.01 EXAMINATION
A. Before starting elevator installation, inspect hoistway, hoistway openings, pits and/or control room, as constructed, verify all critical dimensions, and examine supporting structures and all other conditions under which elevator work is to be

installed. Do not proceed with elevator installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected in a manner acceptable to the installer.
B. Installation constitutes acceptance of existing conditions and responsibility for satisfactory performance.
3.02 INSTALLATION
A. Install elevator systems components and coordinate installation of hoistway wall construction.
1. Work shall be performed by competent elevator installation personnel in accordance with ASME A17.1, manufacturer's installation instructions and approved shop drawings.
2. Comply with the National Electrical Code for electrical work required during installation.
B. Jack unit excavation (if required by the type of jack provided): Drill or otherwise excavate below elevator pit construction as required to install the jack unit.
1. Install casing for jack unit.
2. Provide HDPE jack protection system for all in ground jacks.
3. Set casing for jack unit assembly plumb, and partially fill with water settled sand, eliminating voids. Back fill depth shall be sufficient to hold the bottom of the jack in place over time.
C. Perform work with competent, skilled workmen under the direct control and supervision of the elevator manufacturer's experienced foreman.
D. Supply in ample time for installation by other trades, inserts, anchors, bearing plates, brackets, supports, and bracing including all setting templates and diagrams for placement.
E. Welded construction: Provide welded connections for installation of elevator work where bolted connections are not required for subsequent removal or for normal operation, adjustment, inspection, maintenance, and replacement of worn parts.
Comply with AWS standards for workmanship and for qualification of welding operators.
F. Coordination: Coordinate elevator work with the work of other trades, for proper time and sequence to avoid construction delays. Use benchmarks, lines, and levels designated by the Contractor, to ensure dimensional coordination of the work.
G. Install machinery, guides, controls, car and all equipment and accessories to provide a quiet, smoothly operating installation, free from side sway, oscillation or vibration.

H. Alignment: Coordinate installation of hoistway entrances with installation of elevator guide rails for accurate alignment of entrances with cars. Where possible, delay final adjustment of sills and doors until car is operable in shaft. Reduce clearances to minimum safe, workable dimensions at each landing.
I. Erect hoistway sills, headers, and frames before erection of rough walls and doors;
erect fascia and toe guards after rough walls finished. Set sill units accurately aligned and slightly above finish floor at landings.
J. Lubricate operating parts of system, where recommended by manufacturer.
3.03 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
A. Acceptance testing: Upon completion of the elevator installation and before permitting use of elevator, perform acceptance tests as required and recommended by Code and governing regulations or agencies. Perform other tests, if any, as required by governing regulations or agencies.
