REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) FA8534-23-R-0001
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
10 MARCH 2023
Q1. Please provide a spec sheet on the Nylon Tape and where you are procuring this currently, meaning your approved qualified source since this is a critical item. The source provided is no longer in business.
Section 1.22 NYLON TAPE. The purchase tape (see Figure 1-8) is a woven nylon belt with a special treatment to increase wear properties and prevent ultraviolent degradation. The tape is essentially a flat bag which contains bundles of longitudinal fibers. These fibers are the primary load-bearing members. The outer casing protects the inner fibers and reinforces the edges of the tape.
No specific spec sheet included, other than the high level drawing Mobile Arresting Unit 201018515, item 17 – Nylon Tape, Cage code 87679: Victor-balata Belting Company, ID No. 85022515000, 8.50 x 500 yards. Victor Belting is no longer in business.
A1. The purchase tapes (aka Nylon Tape) and pendant cables will be provided for First
Article Testing (FAT), so there is no need for any of the offerors to purchase them.
See attached MIL-STD spec sheet, “MIL-W-38461C”.
The current manufacturer for the Nylon Tape is Murdock Webbing Company, Inc.
(CAGE: 83219) Part Number (P/N): 8502251500C.
Q2. Do you have any drawing models available? This would be very helpful in costing these items rather than the 2D drawings.
A2. See attached “638C37215 Nylon Tape”.
