Request for Information Regarding Statement of Objectives Minimum Requirement Project, VKAG 20-1040 dated 1-November-2022
Question: The Revised Statement of Objectives for the Minimum Requirement Project, page 7, paragraph 5 states, "The Contractor will not be installing/connecting the communication cable since all communication cable will be installed by someone else." However, paragraphs 6, 7, and 8 include instructions for cable and conduit installation. Please clarify whether or not SJAFB intends the contractor to install the communications cable for the minimum requirement project.
Response: Install the communications cable as identified in paragraphs 6, 7, and 8. A revised SOO to correct language in paragraph 5 will be posted.
Question: The Revised Statement of Objectives for the Minimum Requirement Project, page 7, paragraph 5 states, that the contractor shall "Install new communication cover plates on all new and existing communication outlets." The drawings released with Amendment 2 show seven existing communication outlets, all located within the demo area but do not show any other existing outlets. Are there existing outlets to remain and if so, how many?
Response: The drawings released with Amendment 2 do not show any existing communication outlets. Both keynotes 2 and 3 in drawing E-101 show locations of NEW communication ports to be installed. The Contractor is required to demolish all communication ports, associated conduit, and associated wire throughout office and waiting room areas excluding the utility closet.
Therefore, the only existing communication ports will be those left in the utility closet. The difference between notes 2 and 3 is that note 2 includes new receptacles along with the new communication outlets. The Contractor is responsible for determining the quantity and location of existing communication outlets.
Question: If there are existing outlets remaining, please confirm that the contractor is to install Category 6 lines to the new outlets only and that existing outlets are to be fitted with new cover plates and not be re-cabled. If additional existing outlets are to receive new cabling, please release revised drawings showing the number and location of these outlets and the cabling.
Response: See response to question #2.
Question: The revised statement of work 13.1.5.1. Preliminary Drawings, page 21, includes a requirement to include drawings of "proposed cable route(s)" with submission. Please confirm that these route drawings are not required for submission with the Minimum Requirement Project because of the solicitation instruction (dated 27-September, 2022) that "Bidders are not required to submit preliminary drawings at the time of bid submission."
Response: The proposed cable routes are not required for submission at the time of bid submission; they shall be required to be submitted with the preliminary drawings after award.
