Answer:
This is the best detail that is available, and new details cannot be produced in a reasonable time that would prevent significant delays to the project. If the question can be re-phrased to ask more specifically what is unclear about the detail, we may be able to provide an answer.

7. Only one major brand of chiller has a continuously variable compressor speed. Can other chillers be considered?
Answer:
Yes, other major brands of chillers (Trane, McQuay, York, etc.) without a continuously variable compressor speed but similar efficiency, quality and other features, and that comply with all other requirements in drawings and specifications will be considered equal.
The intent of the chiller specifications and drawings is to provide a baseline level of quality in the chiller equipment; it is not the intent of the specifications or drawings to pinpoint certain brands and exclude other brands.
8. Can the Government please clarify the ceiling fan controller to be provided? Mechanical drawings show it shall be a digital speed controller while electrical drawings show that it shall be a solid state speed controller.
This question will be clarified in Amendment #3.
9. Specification 01 00 00, Paragraph 1.08 F mentions recycling. Can the Gov’t provide an explanation of the recycling to be done?
Answer:
Yes, construction debris (concrete, metal, etc.) should be recycled. The Contractor will provide tickets indicating the weight/cost/volume of recycled material. In addition, a letter may be submitted indicating that materials that can be reclaimed for use elsewhere (such as working temperature control units) have been set aside for use elsewhere.
10. Regarding the lighting in the work areas, what will the requirements be for securing the existing lighting while demo and rebuild are happening? Do we simply secure lights above ceiling for temporary, clean and reset them? Who is responsible for the foreseeable damage to fixtures if that method is used?
Do we remove all lighting and store it and install temporary lighting the construction areas? Some hard ceilings are going to drop ceiling, what lighting requirements will that entail due to the fact that different installation material will be required?
Answer:
There is wall lighting in the area where gypsum board ceilings are being changed to tile ceilings. In these areas, there are no ceiling mounted lights.
In other areas, where ceilings will be cut and patched, the protection of the lighting will be up to the
Contractor. Protection methods could include covering light, temporarily supporting light out of the way of the work, or removing and reinstalling light after the work is complete. The actual method to be used is at the Contractor’s discretion but it should reasonably fit the situation in the room being worked on.
Contractor will be responsible for any damage caused to light fixtures.
11. Since there is no equipment/disconnect schedule, are we to assume that disconnects exist and are reusing the existing?
Answer:
Unless it is specifically noted on the drawing otherwise, the Contractor will NOT be responsible for providing and installing disconnect switches.
