1. INTRODUCTION
Maintenance personnel currently do not have any weather protection for the T-38 aircraft. The constant exposure to the elements has led to decreased efficiency in maintenance. The installation of sunshades shall not only increase efficiency allowing more training missions to be executed, but shall also protect vital Air Force assets from the sun.
Within the below documents, the following shall be consistent. When "the Government" is mentioned, it is a representation of: the Project Manager (PM), the Contracting Officer Representative (COR), or the Contracting Officer (CO). When "the Contractor" is mentioned, it is a representation of: the prime contractor, all sub-contractors, and all other parties working with/for the prime contractor.
2. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Contractor shall be responsible for the following:
Site surveys Determining pre-existing conditions At Kirtland Air Force Base (AFB):

o Removal and proper disposal of all fasteners, remnants of sunscreen, and all bolts o Full depth replacement of concrete where existing anchor bolts flush existed and fill voids with a pourable epoxy The Contractor shall completely remove the existing anchor bolts and fill the void with high strength epoxy or grout. The Contractor shall not simply grind the bolts down below top of pavement and cap the surface with pourable epoxy.
o Contractor shall be responsible for spalls or expansion joints repairs that are damaged by the Contractor.
o Load and transport eight (8) sunshades to Laughlin AFB at Del Rio, Texas At Laughlin AFB:
o Provide certified engineered concrete foundations drawings based on the existing expansion soils. New sunshades foundations will include 30-inch diameter x 13-feet - 0-inches deep, drilled concrete caissons with engineered steel reinforcement. The Contractor shall perform a geotechnical soil investigation and Ground Penetrating Radar prior to the engineering/design of said concrete foundations. The Contractor shall be responsible for sampling and testing of any concrete used for the construction of this project.
o Provide certified engineered drawings for the re-construction of the eight sunshades. If certain members do not meet 2018 International Building Code criteria, the Contractor shall purchase and install new members to complete the sunshades.
The re-assembly of the sunshades will include all new bolts and fasteners. The Contractor shall determine
FA309922R00010004
whether the existing cable bracing, strand grips, eyebolts, hillside washers, and nuts may be re-used. If said materials cannot be re-used, the Contractor shall purchase and install new materials in order to install the sunshades.
Install new 80% sunscreen with a one-year warranty. The Contractor shall install said sunscreen to both the top and sides of the sunshades.
