Exterior disconnect switches shall be installed in accordance with NEC section 404.8(A).
(3) 4” X 4” normal size and smaller cast-metal hub type boxes shall not be used when flush mounted on outside of exterior surfaces.
(Note: For electrical wiring, low voltage refers to voltages less than or equal to 50V whereas high voltage refers to voltages greater than or equal to 120V. Specification to wiring in between 50V and 120V should be cautioned and treated like the latter.
See (20) for further information).
(4) No equipment grounding conductor shall be installed in empty or low voltage conduits.
(5) Raceways and conduits shall not share both low and high voltage wiring.
(6) Low Voltage Dry Type Distribution Transformers: All new low voltage dry type distribution transformers 15 KVA and larger shall comply with NEMA TP-1 2002 standards for energy efficiency.
(7) Panelboards shall have a minimum of 20% of single pole spare spaces and 20% spare power. Panelboards must be near the loads they serve. Panelboards not within sight of the power feed, or in the same room, must be equipped with a main breaker.
(8) Toggle Switches: Where toggle switches are provided, ensure switches are UL 20, cULus rated, and NEMA WD1 rated for use. Provide quiet-type 20A, 120/277 volt unless noted otherwise. Toggle switch bodies shall thermoplastic or thermoset plastic type toggles with current rating and number of poles indicated.

(10) Device Plates: For plates on finished walls, provide UL listed one piece device cover plates to match color of wiring device. Where high impact is expected, provide cover plates conforming to UL 514C High Impact rating. Provide medium sized covers made of either thermoplastic or nylon with machine-type screws to match final finish of plate. Provide gasketed and UL listed cover plates in designated “wet areas”.
Final finish selection shall be either ivory or white as approved by 17CES.
LIGHTING:

(17) Lighting Levels: General illumination levels shall not exceed the intensities shown in Mil-Hdbk 1190, Chapter 9, Table 9-1 through 9-4 and Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) Handbook. Design of rooms (particularly areas with fluorescent troffer lighting) shall include evaluation of multi-level switching to provide user-adjustable levels of lighting, as well as dimming and work area lighting. Design Analysis shall address all options considered to minimize energy consumption while providing effective lighting, and the reasons for choices made shall be documented.
(18) Multi-level switching, using multiple ballasts and separately switched circuits to provide adjustable levels of lighting, is the minimum standard for all facilities. An example is having one tube on a ballast and two tubes on another ballast in a 2’x 4’ troffer, so either one, two or all three bulbs in a 3-bulb system can be selected.
Another design tool is to provide additional switches to sectionalize the room in addition to level control. Other design considerations include task lighting, strategically placed down lights, dimmers, photoelectric controls, occupancy sensors, LED, solar lighting, and day-lighting design, all of which give users flexible control of their workspace lighting and save money.
