SAMPLE SYSTEM MODIFICATION FOR
REMOTE CONTROL OF RADAR SYSTEM
Scope: This requirement is for the remote control of a touchscreen based AN/FPS-16 radar system over a distance of 75 miles (by water), plus an additional 200 miles (by land). The radar system is configured as follows:
Elevation over Azimuth pedestal assembly 16 foot antenna and RF feed assembly 1 MW Transmitter subsystem RF receiver subsystem VME based control subsystem Angle and servo drive subsystem Console subsystem Data processing subsystem Boresite interface subsystem Optics and camera subsystem GPS Timing subsystem
Performance Specification: The system operator shall be able to have full control of all aspects of the system using a secondary radar operator’s console at a remote location, including pre and post mission, and boresite subsystem calibration abilities. The system shall be able to be operated in a real time environment, with a time latency of no greater than 150 milliseconds. The secondary console shall have all displays that are available in the local console, with an additional video display that has, in real time, an overall view of the local radar control room.
Government Furnished Equipment: Fiber optic cable exists running 75 miles (underwater) plus 200 miles (over land). There is also a Local Area Network (LAN) already in place.
The proposal shall include a design concept, basic block diagrams and flowcharts. DRAFT
