About this file
This is a pre-application webinar presentation prepared by the Oregon Department of Education for the 2025-2027 Farm to Child Nutrition Program (CNP) Education Grant. The grant supports food, agriculture, and garden-based learning initiatives to promote healthy eating and agricultural literacy in Oregon's Child Nutrition Programs. The Oregon Department of Education is offering two funding tracks: a Mini Grant track providing $2,000 to $15,000 for smaller-scale projects such as school garden starts or educational field trips, and a Full Grant track offering $15,001 to $100,000 for larger multi-site or district-wide projects. Applications are due by 4:30 p.m. on December 8, 2025, with notice of award expected approximately January 2, 2026. The grant period runs from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027. The deadline for submitting questions to the Single Point of Contact, Clint Hall, is November 24, 2025.
Eligible applicants include school districts, Education Service Districts (ESDs), federally recognized tribes, BIE schools, nonprofits, center-based CACFP providers, commodity commissions, soil and water districts, and Oregon food producers. A total of $3 million is allocated for projects during the 2025-2027 biennium. Applicants must be in good standing with the Oregon Department of Education Child Nutrition Programs and demonstrate collaboration through required application forms and optional letters of support. Evaluation criteria prioritize project design (10 points), healthy food activities (6-13 points depending on grant track), educational activities (2-4 points), and community involvement (1-3 points). Allowable expenses include personnel labor and benefits, materials and supplies, contractual services, travel for field trips, educational activities, and insurance costs with indirect costs capped at 25% of the grant award. Unallowable expenses include capital equipment and permanent structures. At least 75% of funds must directly support food, agriculture, and garden education activities. Awardees must provide insurance certificates and register with the Secretary of State prior to grant agreement execution, with reporting requirements including a September 2026 progress report and September 2027 final report.
