About this file
This document is Attachment C for the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) Farm to Child Nutrition Program Education Grant, outlining the Capacity Sustaining Full Grant Evaluation Criteria and Points. The grant focuses on supporting educational activities related to food, agriculture, and school gardens, with applicants evaluated across six key criteria: Proposed Project & Activity Design (12 points), Promotion of Healthy Food Activities (13 points), Educational Activities (4 points), Community and Parent/Guardian Involvement (3 points), Educational Activities Tied to School District's Farm to School Procurement Activities (pass/fail), and Culturally Relevant Activities (3 points).
The evaluation process requires applicants to demonstrate comprehensive project planning, including identifying key personnel for grant management, specifying individuals responsible for various grant-related tasks, and providing detailed plans for student engagement in food-related skills and activities. Applicants must align their proposed activities with state educational standards, use evidence-based educational materials, develop a realistic project plan, and highlight how the project will impact students and involve the community. The grant emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning about food production, preparation, preservation, distribution, and consumption, with a total of 35 possible points available for evaluation. Successful applicants will need to show a clear, culturally relevant approach to food education that involves students, parents, and the broader community.
