About this file
This document is Attachment B for the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) Farm to Child Nutrition Program Education Grant, detailing the Capacity Building Mini Grant Evaluation Criteria and Points. The grant focuses on supporting school-based projects that promote healthy food activities, educational experiences, and community engagement related to food production, preparation, distribution, and consumption. The evaluation criteria are structured across five key items: Proposed Project & Activity Design (10 points), Promotion of Healthy Food Activities (6 points), Educational Activities (2 points), Community and Parent/Guardian Involvement (2 points), and Educational Activities Tied to School District/Sponsor's Farm to School Procurement Activities.
The grant application requires detailed documentation, including identifying specific individuals responsible for grant management, training, purchasing, reporting, and project maintenance. Applicants must demonstrate a clear project plan with evidence-based educational materials, a reasonable budget, and tangible impacts on youth learning. Proposals will be evaluated on their ability to develop physical infrastructure, provide hands-on activities, specify skills youth will learn, engage the community, and align with school district nutrition procurement activities. The total possible points for the grant evaluation is 20, with various pass/fail and point-based criteria across different evaluation items.
