About this file

This is a technical specification section for submittal requirements on construction subcontracts administered by Fermi Forward Discovery Group, LLC (FFDG).

The specification establishes mandatory procedures for subcontractor submittals including shop drawings, material samples, and operations/maintenance manuals for all materials and assemblies used on the project. Subcontractors must submit six copies of operation and maintenance manuals or electronic PDF versions prior to final project acceptance. Shop drawings must be submitted with a signed "Submittal for Review Transmittal" form (provided as Attachment A), indicating the subcontractor has verified compliance with subcontract requirements and checked dimensions and trade relationships. Complete assemblies, structures, or systems cannot be submitted until all component drawings are finalized. Subcontractors must maintain marked-up as-built prints at the job site showing daily installation records in red, available for FFDG inspection and submission within 24 hours upon request. Final payment is contingent on receipt and FFDG approval of complete as-built prints.

FFDG will review submittals and return one copy within ten working days with one of five possible responses: "No Exception Taken" (NET) allowing immediate procurement and installation; "Revise & Resubmit—Fabrication May Proceed" (R/R) allowing fabrication but not installation until approval; "Make Corrections & Proceed" (MCP) allowing fabrication and installation with noted revisions; "Rejected" (R) requiring resubmittal with no work authorized; or "For Information Only" (FIO) for test results and certifications. Material substitutions equal to specified products are acceptable through the same submittal process, requiring detailed comparison information and disclosure of any differences, drawing changes, or engineering modifications needed for installation, all to be completed at no cost to FFDG.

The Subcontractor will revise the shop drawings and resubmit them to FFDG for approval, but will not be able to erect and/or install any material until he has received either the “No Exception Taken (NET)” or the “Make Corrections and Proceed (MCP)” action by FFDG;

“Make Corrections & Proceed” response on the Subcontractor’s shop drawing submittal and “MCP” as shown on the “Submittal for Review Transmittal” form indicates the Subcontractor may proceed with procurement, fabrication, manufacture and installation of the material and/or product assuming the noted items on the submittal are incorporated into the final design and/or product;

With the “Rejected” response on the Subcontractor’s shop drawing submittal and “R” as shown on the “Submittal for Review Transmittal” form, the reasons for the disapproval will be stated on the shop drawing submittal.

The Subcontractor will revise the shop drawing submittal to conform to the drawings and specifications and resubmit them to FFDG for approval. No procurement, fabrication, manufacture or installation shall be performed by the Subcontractor until one of the above actions listed above is received;
