About this file
This document is a user manual for an E-Tech Cart Dumper. It provides instructions for maintenance and adjustment of the cart dumper, including procedures for checking the hydraulic fluid level, lubricating bearings and cylinders, and adjusting the pressure relief and flow control settings. The manual also describes the dual-speed operation of the cart dumper and notes that the speed is preset and should not be adjusted.
The related federal contract opportunity is for Laundry Equipment Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Repair Services at the Gulf Coast Veterans Healthcare System in Biloxi, MS. This is a small business set-aside solicitation for services to ensure continuous, uninterrupted operation of the laundry facility in support of veteran patient care. The contract is being awarded by the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration.

This cart dumper is equipped with a 5 gallon reservoir which comes pre-filled with hydraulic fluid (Mobil DTE 24 or equivalent). The hydraulic fluid reservoir is filled through the filler cap and should have a minimum of 4 gallons of fluid measured when the carriage is in the down position. As shown in figure 2, the reservoir has a combination fluid level and fluid temperature indicator so that the fluid condition can be checked visually without removing the breather cap. The reservoir is equipped with a

Figure 2
All bearings and hydraulic cylinders need to be lubricated after every 40 hours of use with an aluminum complex based, H1 Food Grade grease or equivalent. Grease fittings are provided on the bearings and hydraulic cylinders as shown in figure 3. While lubricating bearings and cylinders the dumper should be visually inspected for signs of any loose hardware and/or damage. Operators should be instructed to inform

Pressure relief and flow control adjustment
The pressure relief and flow control settings are set at E-Tech during pre-ship testing and do not need to be adjusted prior to use. If for any reason the pressure relief and or flow control needs to be adjusted at a later date, follow the procedure outlined below:
Before adjusting the flow control or pressure relief settings, check that there is adequate fluid in the fluid reservoir (Mobil DTE 24 recommended)
Raise the carriage of the cart dumper roughly halfway up, within the high-speed range.
Completely close the flow control knob (turn clockwise) o The set screw on the flow control knob may have to be loosened to allow adjustment
Loosen the jam nut on the pressure relief adjustment screw
While holding down the “down” (right) foot pedal, adjust the pressure relief adjustment screw until desired pressure setting is attained (1400 psi as seen on the pressure gauge).
o The cart dumper box should not move during this adjustment.
o Turning the screw clockwise will increase pressure, counterclockwise lowers pressure o 1/4 turn results in roughly a 500 psi change
Release foot pedal and tighten jam nut on the pressure relief adjustment screw
Open the flow control (counterclockwise) approximately 1 turn.
With an empty cart in the carriage, run the cart dumper all the way to the up position and then back down all the way to the down position. If the cart dumper bounces or pulsates as it is coming down, the flow control may be open too far.
When flow control adjustment is complete, tighten the set screw on the flow control knob so that the adjustment does not vibrate out of place.

Dual Speed
The high performance cart dumper is configured for dual-speed operation. At each end of the lifting cycle the hydraulic power pack will run at a reduced speed. This ensures smooth operation when reaching each end of the cylinder stroke while still allowing fast overall cycle times. A non-contact inductive sensor and sensing bar shown in figure 4 are used to enable the high speed range. If the sensor comes out of adjustment, is damaged or disconnected, the dumper will not enter high speed mode.
Figure 4
The speed of the dumper is preset via the variable frequency drive and should not be adjusted. Changing the flow control adjustment from its factory setting will not increase the speed of the cart dumper; its function is to eliminate pulsating of the carriage due to a lack of back-pressure in the hydraulic system when an empty cart is being lowered.
