About this file

This file contains detailed technical specifications for construction work related to the FAA Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant (IWTP) Upgrades project. The specifications are organized into Division 02 (Demolition) and Division 03 (Concrete) sections, along with Division 04 (Masonry) specifications.

The demolition section (02 41 16) outlines the complete removal of buildings and site improvements, including below-grade construction demolition to depths of 6 feet in non-construction areas and 5 feet outside footprints in new construction areas. All existing utilities must be disconnected, capped, or sealed, with utility services maintained to adjacent occupied buildings. The contractor must provide comprehensive protection measures, including temporary shoring, dust and noise control, and barriers to protect adjacent structures. Demolished materials become contractor property unless otherwise indicated, with historic items remaining owner property. Predemolition photographs, building demolition schedules, and protection plans must be submitted for approval.

The concrete sections specify requirements for forming, reinforcing, and placing cast-in-place concrete with multiple exposure classes (F0 through F3) and strength grades ranging from 3,000 to 5,000 psi depending on application. Concrete mixtures require design documentation, testing at 7 and 28 days, and compliance with ACI standards. Vapor retarders (Class A, minimum 15 mils) must be installed on slabs-on-ground with sealed joints and penetrations. Waterstops (flexible PVC, 6 inches by 3/8 inch) are required at construction joints. The masonry section (04 22 00) specifies concrete masonry units with minimum 2,800 psi net-area compressive strength, hot-dip galvanized reinforcement, and mortar/grout mixes designed and tested for strength compliance. All work requires third-party testing agency inspections and certifications throughout construction.
