1. ABS: Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene plastic.
2. PA: Polyamide (nylon) plastic.
3. PE: Polyethylene plastic.
4. PP: Polypropylene plastic.
5. PVC: Polyvinyl chloride plastic.
1.4 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: Submit certified performance curves and rated capacities of selected well pumps and furnished specialties for each type and size of well pump indicated.
B. Shop Drawings: Show layout and connections for well pumps.
1. Wiring Diagrams: Power, signal, and control wiring.
a. Setting Drawings: Include templates and directions for installing founda-tion
C. Operation and Maintenance Data: For each well pump to include in emergency, op-eration, and maintenance manuals.
1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Electrical Components, Devices, and Accessories: UL Listed and labeled.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 WELL CASING FITTINGS
A. Pitless Adapter: Fitting, of shape required to fit onto casing, with waterproof seals.
B. Pitless Unit: Factory-assembled equipment that includes pitless adapter.
C. Well Seals: Casing cap, with screened vent and holes for piping and cables, that fits into top of casing and is lockable, removable, waterproof, and vermin proof.
2.2 DISINFECTANT
A. Chlorine or chlorine compounds shall be used. The disinfectant shall be delivered to the jobsite in original closed containers bearing the original label indicating the per-centage of available chlorine.
B. Dry disinfectants used in the preparation of solutions shall not be outdated, shall be full strength, and shall be prepared to the required concentration in accordance with the manufacturer’s directions for mixing.
2.3 GROUT
A. Cement: ASTM C 150, Type II.
B. Aggregates: ASTM C 33, fine and coarse grades.
C. Water: Potable.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 CONNECTIONS
A. Drawings indicate general arrangement of piping, fittings, and specialties.
1. Install pitless adapter.
2. Connect piping between well pump and water piping.
3. Connect water distribution system in trench to well pipe at pitless adapter.
4. Connect building water distribution to well pipe inside well house.
B. Ground equipment according to Division 26 Section "Grounding and Bonding."
3.2 WELL DISINFECTION
A. Before disinfecting the well, all components of the well shall be cleaned of all foreign substances such as cement, oil, grease, joint dope, and scum. The well must have al-ready been developed. The system must have operated long enough to flush out all turbid water.
LOST LAKE CAMPGROUND 332110 - 3
B. Disinfection shall comply with National Ground Water Association’s “Manual of Wa-ter Well Construction Practices” using the EPA requirement for minimum concentra-tion of 100 ppm available chlorine.
C. A chlorine solution of the appropriate concentration to disinfect the well shall be pre-pared on the surface in containers having an aggregate volume equal to or at least twice the volume of water capable of being held in the well casing and well screen.
The solution shall then be rapidly discharged into the well so as to thoroughly flush that portion of the casing that is above the static water level. The disinfecting agent shall be left in the well a minimum of 24 hrs.
D. The quantity of chlorine compounds used for disinfection shall be sufficient to pro-duce a minimum of 100 ppm (parts per million) available chlorine in solution when mixed with the total volume of water in the well. A 100 ppm solution should result from utilizing quantities of chlorine compounds, proportion to the depth of water, as listed in the table below.

5.
* - Where a dry chemical is used, it should be mixed with water to form a chlorine solution prior to placing it into the well. This applies to all wells except flowing artesian wells.
E. Follow water supply well disinfection procedures required by authorities having juris-diction before testing well pumps.

F. Clean tested and developed water supply wells of foreign substances. Swab casings using alkalis, if necessary, to remove foreign substances.
3.3 PROTECTION
1. Water Quality Protection: Prevent well contamination, including undesirable physical and chemical characteristics.
3.4 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
A. Water Analysis Testing: Engage a qualified testing agency to perform bacteriological analyses of water from each finished well and report the results. Make analyses ac-cording to requirements of authorities having jurisdiction.
B. Start well pump, fill storage tank and adjust controls and pressure setting. Replace damaged and malfunctioning controls and equipment.
